 The second test uses the AIDA64 Extreme Stability Test benchmark, which creates an unrealistically high CPU load. This type of load will not be encountered in any scenario in your daily life, games or even video rendering. The purpose of this test is to just push its CPU cooler to its very limit and see the cooling potential, and in this test our cooler reached a maximum temperature of 98°C with the factory fan installed. I was also talking about those alternative modes that you can have with this cooler and to get as much performance as I could, I decided to install an additional 120mm fan above the heatsink

 The active cooling is done by a single 92mm fan, which is also slim, with a thickness of just 15mm. This fan is made by Applephone and has a minimum speed of 800rpm and a maximum speed of 2800rpm. It also uses a single 4-pin connector for power, with an all-black cable that is unfortunately not sleeved. One important feature of the Blackreach cooler is that it can be used in different modes for different purposes

Now that we agreed on that subject, we can talk about the Black Ridge cooler, and it is a good CPU cooler with a great build quality, however it is not for everyone, as it has plenty of limitations thanks to its peculiar shape and mounting system

Alpenföhn Black Ridge - CPU Cooler Review

It's a Dan A4 with Alpenfohn Black Ridge cooler, i5 11600K, a 6600XT and an MSI Spatium 1TB ssd (arguably the best thing about this build since it's sooooo damn fast. Coming from a spacious Cooler Master H500, I was honestly really impressed with the thermals here! Sure I tweaked the fan curve since I don't mind her getting a bit loud, but the 6600XT is 55° under max load, and the CPU rarely hitting 70° except for Prime95, which brought it to 100° (didn't throttle though). I'm literally so glad I can fit my PC in my backpack along with my Macbook!

Cooler: Alpenfohn Black Ridge (had to be modified with a dremel to clear the motherboard, feels bad man). Has a 120mm slim (15mm) Arctic fan, thankfully the sides are acrylic so had some bend to them. Also had to remove the choker of a heatsink on the nvme drives but temps seem absolutely fine atm.

 But yeah, definitely under 50mm in height, this is the cooler to get. Also, if you have a Dan A4 SFX, I mean, it's a pretty much a no-brainer there. It was designed by the creator of the Dan A4 after all. The only better option there would be the 92mm AIO, but not everyone wants to go down that route

 For reference, many competing low profile coolers use four heat pipes. So on paper, at least the Blackridge does have an advantage. The most important spec worth mentioning, though, is the height of the low profile cooler itself, seeing as this will limit what cases are compatible. And I can only really think of two, maybe three cases off the top of my head that aren't compatible with the Alpenfoam Blackridge

 If you have a Velcro 5, this is the cooler to get. If you have any case that requires a CPU cooler that's under 50mm in height, even under 60mm in height, I would consider this. But yeah, definitely under 50mm in height, this is the cooler to get. Also, if you have a Dan A4 SFX, I mean, it's a pretty much a no-brainer there

 You've got the stock configuration out of the box with the stock 92 mil fan underneath. Then if you have some VLP or very low profile memory dims handy, you can swap that out for a high performing slim 120 mil fan. Or if you have the additional clearance available, you can mount a 120 mil fan on top of the cooler, whether that's a slim fan or full sized fan depends on your clearance. The mounting brackets are also included in the box, and they're nice and easy to use, too, both for the slim and full sized fans

 Enough space, I'd say, for easier access to the top-mounted M.2 sockets. Before we head into the performance testing, here is a noise sample of how the CPU cooler sounds like. Use the included fan, starting at a dead stop, and then speeding up to its maximum speed of 2000rpm

 And in this test, the NH-U9S Chroma Black reached a maximum temperature of 67°C, with the ambient temperature fixed at 26°C, and this is with the CPU overclocked to 5GHz. Also if you were wondering if the Chroma Black variant was performing any different than the regular NH-U9S, well, now you know that both coolers are identical in performance. Moving on with the second test, which uses the FPU stability test within the AIDA64 Extreme software. This places an unrealistically high load on the CPU, something which you will not encounter not even with video rendering

 In addition, as is the case with most Noctua coolers on the market, the heatpipes are soldered directly to the underside of the baseplate. This method ensures the optimal heat transfer between the top surfaces and also creates a long-lasting bond. The endings of the heatpipes are completely exposed but, thankfully, these are machined to be symmetrical, which is a great thing to have from a design perspective. The heatsink has around 45 aluminum cooling-made fins, which are also covered by the matte black coating that is no characteristic of the Chromass black series

Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black - CPU Cooler Review

 My primary objective is to review it in the Ncase M1 but since we've also had a few questions regarding this cooler from our viewers I'll also be taking a quick look at it in the Cooler Master NR200. But first let's take a look at a few key specs of this cooler as well as what it comes with. Now the U9S is a single tower cooler that comes in at 125 millimeters of height which makes it ideal for SFF cases like the Ncase M1 which has a height limit of 130 millimeters. I weighed this heat sink in at 530 grams or so and that makes it on par with the ID Cooling SE224XT which is a larger 120 millimeter tower cooler

 Though this cooler comes with a premium price tag the fit and finish of this cooler is absolutely top notch starting from the base plate the installation hardware all the way to the heat fins in the fan. This is a cooler that shows why Noctua represents the highest end of air cooling today.  I just absolutely love how this cooler looks in the black NK someone and is it is a fantastic option if this is the case you're looking to run it in. At the reference price of $65 US to chromax is just five dollars more than the original version which is a very fair premium considering the high quality finish on this cooler but it is all about the appearance though so if you don't want to look at it or you don't really care for the color then you're fine just sticking to the original colorway. It hides fingerprints really well too and it's just a really stealthy little machine. The fan is high quality and when I cycled through the various rpms I did not detect any irregular noise patterns

 Hey there and welcome to Machines More. I just took a stab at making my own semi-chromax U12A cooler and today we're taking a look at a bonafide refreshed 92 millimeter fan tower cooler from Noctua. Noctua sent by the refreshed version of the U9S so a big thanks to them for making this review possible. So while it's pretty unreasonable to ask this little cooler to compete with 120 millimeter fan coolers and even a 240 millimeter AAO that's precisely what we're going to do today because in a case like the Ncase M1 right here it is the best tower cooler option

92mm Tower of Power: Noctua NH-U9S Chromax Test and Review

 A tiny 125mm high tower cooler supposed to fit perfectly into that small gap between low-profile coolers and really big towers. So, let's take that Noctua U9S to the test and see if it can live up to the expectations. This episode is brought to you by cdcovers.com

 Though, do keep in mind that there are two sets of spacers included, the black ones for AM4 sockets while the white ones are meant for older sockets. While hitting the 3700X with everything we've got, the Noctua NH-U9S managed to keep it at 88°C while splitting at a 100% fan speed. Then we slowly decreased the fan speed until the CPU thermal throttled at 60% of these 2000 RPM. Putting the Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim right next to it, we can see that it was always just one or two degrees behind the Noctua

 In the longer one, we will find a bag containing a short PVM extension cable and some of Noctua's NH-1 thermal paste as well as a long screwdriver. Once the manuals are removed, we will find the mounting hardware for AMD on one side and Intel on the other. In terms of compatibility, Noctua did include a surprising amount of sockets. On Team Intel, the NH-U9S can be mounted on top of the newest LGA1200 socket as well as the older 1150s and the 2066 series

Noctua Nh-u9s Chromax Review | Best small size CPU Cooler?

 Although temperatures at idle were around the low 30s C they hovered around 40-50 C just watching online videos and were regularly reaching 100C on heavy load (some higher end games).  With the Noctua cooler installed temperatures rarely exceed 70C for very long even on heavy load with only a minor noise coming from the fan. Online videos show methods of splitting fan power and mounting the original dell CPU fan inside the front of the case for additional case cooling. I was unable to split the case fan power though as I think the CPU fan is a slightly different type and did not work

 I instead split the CPU fan power and that worked. However, at load the old Dell CPU fan was so loud on heavy load I decided to disconnect it (though CPU temps stayed under control the fan was so loud it almost sounded like it was going to explode). Disconnecting of the old Dell fan didn't decrease the cooling in any significant way but with just the Noctua fan running it was significantly quieter, so you may just want to discard the old Dell fan if you run into the same choice.  Also mounting in the G5 was slightly complicated in that the supplied backplane of the Noctua could not be used

 The fins are also shaped to allow for easy passage of a screwdriver to the mounting system both at the center of the cooler and at the back. But also, these are shaped downwards and stacked on the sides of the cooler. This is done to not only help the fins maintain a straight edge, but also to create a solid unit out of all of these many components. The fan present on this cooler is the Noctua NF-A9 PWM, which is a 92mm sized fan

 However, this test shows the cooling capacity of the NH-U9S as it may have reached 93°C but the CPU remained stable and did not enter thermal throttling. The Noctua NH-U9S can be bought for around 60 USD or Euros, depending on where you get it from and its stocks. The main idea behind this cooler is to offer a compact cooling solution that is capable of cooling most CPUs. However, overclocking high TDP CPUs is not where the NH-U9S shines, as we have seen in our testing

 Not bad for a cooler of this size, and mind you, this is with the CPU running at a stable overclock of 5GHz. To give you some perspective of this performance, the NH-U9S is around 6°C warmer than the NH-U12S. The second test uses the FPU and Stability test we've seen in the AIDA64 software. This places an unrealistically high load on the CPU, a thing which you will not see in any game or software, perhaps video rendering but even then

Noctua NH-U9S Review | Performance in a small package!

My second review ever, in tandem with pre-built PC I bought recently due to the significance.  Recently bought the (Asus) Rog Strix 3070 Gaming desktop with an i7 11700F and Geforce RTX 3070. Right out of the box the CPU fan was running at max speed and when in any form of use, such as installing something. First time I ever downloaded core temp and it was telling me that was running at 50 Degrees (Celsius) idle and when in any use would go up to 80-100 degrees

 I didn't use any of the noise-limiter dongles as I want this build to run as cool as possible and what other fans would I want? I did lust after the Chromax fans (this would have been an epic build with them), but they're as rare as hen's teeth and I was in a hurry.  So, how good is this kit? I see temps in the low 50s (Centigrade) w/ an Intel i-7 10700K OC'd to 5Ghz. I hardly ever hear the fans run up to full speed when gaming (Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 - both cranked up to 11) and when I running on the desktop things are rarely above 35 degrees Centigrade.  Installation is a snap as long as you remember to not torque down the mounting screws more than just enough to hold the first side into place as you first attach the fans to the brackets
