But there are plenty of drawbacks that give me pause. Update: I ended up returning this laptop as the freezeups were happening more, even after I finished doing all of the windows/driver updates. Perhaps those will be fixed in future firmware patches, but I'd rather get a computer that functions "correctly" from day one. It's weird because as I mentioned, overall performance of this laptop is very impressive and far outshines my old 2 core macbook pro, but I don't have the same freezeups on the mac (running windows) - I imagine that this has something to do with lack of AMD drivers or something

If you're in the market for a new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, then selecting the best configuration is important especially because the model doesn't come cheap. We recommend skipping the Core i7-10510U since it performs about the same as the cheaper Core i5-8265U or Core i7-8565U. Only the hexa-core Core i7-10710U option will provide a noticeable boost in CPU performance over last gen options. Investing in RAM, 4G LTE, or the brighter display would be more worthwhile than the newer 10th gen CPU for day-to-day use
