But there are plenty of drawbacks that give me pause. Update: I ended up returning this laptop as the freezeups were happening more, even after I finished doing all of the windows/driver updates. Perhaps those will be fixed in future firmware patches, but I'd rather get a computer that functions "correctly" from day one. It's weird because as I mentioned, overall performance of this laptop is very impressive and far outshines my old 2 core macbook pro, but I don't have the same freezeups on the mac (running windows) - I imagine that this has something to do with lack of AMD drivers or something

Verdict - Tiger-Lake brings more CPU performance

Theoretically, the Nvidia GeForce MX450 can also increase the graphics performance a bit. Lenovo clearly increases the performance of the ThinkPad T15 in the second generation, but the MX450 only brings a small added value here.In practice, however, the MX450 barely shows a higher performance than the CPU's internal Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7. Although this keeps the heat output in check, the second graphics unit hardly offers any added value

Battery Life

Great laptop for students on a budget!

The charger plug doesn’t fit nicely into the computer. I have to push it in harder than I would like to get it to charge, and I always worry that it’s going to break. However, the battery life is so great that I’ve only had to charge it once in the past three days. I’ll update later when I’ve spent more time with it

What (new or refurbished) laptop should I buy for 400-600 USD?

Lenovo Thinkpad. The only issue would be the battery life, but you could get multiple batteries since they're not internal.
