Usually, to get a laptop of this size and this 'thinness', with this performance, you'd have to be looking at at least $1000.  I'm happy with this laptop because:  1. It's really light. Not the lightest laptop ever, but it is just so

 Boot time is practically negligible (actually, it's like 10 seconds or less, but this is good time in my opinion). More than likely the result of the combination of a Ryzen 5 processor and an SSD. I picked an AMD processor this time around because for this generation, AMD > Intel.  3

 The performance, build quality and style factor for the price are really good. Recommended.

 Really and truly, this is a very small issue, as they cut back on something that the user could improve on themselves if they really need to - a smart decision, compared to say, only having a Ryzen 3 processor, or only 4 GB of soldered memory without any RAM slots.  Overall, I'm really pleased with the purchase. The performance, build quality and style factor for the price are really good. Recommended

 Also, I really love the size of this laptop. It is not thick and bulky at all. It is very thin and lightweight and is great for traveling and being able to work on the go. Overall, i'm a big fan of this laptop and all it's features

 They do start to look and feel a little bit cheap, considering how much they cost and when you consider the top end 3x has the same pretty average 1080p screen as uh the base swift 3, which costs about half the price from this 1100 or pound. Asking price it's a little hard to swallow and you could get a slightly better spec swift, 5 for similar money, or, if you don't mind going to a mac, i think for most people, the m1 powered macbook air would just be a better buy. Although of course, you are losing out on the xe max graphics, and if you do want to do a bit of light to moderate gaming on an ultra portable laptop, then this is still a good option because of course mac doesn't have the same game library. But i can't help thinking that the swift 3 has maybe just lost its edge a little bit when it comes to value for money

Acer Swift 3 2021 Review - WAIT!

 The charger plug doesn’t fit nicely into the computer. I have to push it in harder than I would like to get it to charge, and I always worry that it’s going to break. This laptop is great! It came in the mail about 10 days ago, but I’ve only started using it in the past three days for school. I’m an English major so I don’t know how it would do for more intense coding, gaming, etc. I’ve mostly been using Zoom, BBCollaborate, and D2L Brightspace for classes (with multiple tabs open, as well as one or two Word docs all at once) and I’ve had zero problems with speed. There was one time when I left it open for a while and it acted like it wasn’t going to wake up, but after a moment it did with no more problems

  The screen resolution is phenomenal.  The setup could not have been easier.  As with all Windows products, you have to disable Edge and Cortana but that is easy to do.  I would highly recommend this computer

Hello, i've recently discovered thinkpads and their history. Interested in buying a laptop around 1k to 1.5k euro so im wondering if the build quality and durability of thinkpads is worth it over getting a gaming laptop with ryzen 7 5800 and a 3060 gpu.

Will be using it for machine learning mostly, python / octave / rstudio etc which requires processing power and preferably 16 GB of RAM.

Thinkpads don't have a gpu in this price range, mostly have 8 GB of ram and the cpus are relatively old and weak. So can you please help me see the appeal? thanks

Why choose thinkpad over a gaming laptop?

Over the 18 months I've owned it, I can say that it definitely lives up to the ThinkPad name. My one complaint would be the keyboard and the fact the TrackPoint buttons don't always click, but honestly it's still one of the better modern keyboard/mouse units I've used on a modern laptop. For reference, I own multiple ThinkPads ranging in release date from 2004 to 2019 (with the 2019 ThinkPad being my P53) and I am still thoroughly impressed with the quality of my P53.

Are the new ones being released living up to the durability and great keyboards that the older ones were renowned for? I'm really curious, I'd love to have a go-to brand where I know I'm going to get a solid machine that will last me for years to come with no problems, but it seems like potentially the quality of all of the major brands is in decline?

Are Lenovo still making decent thinkpads?

 Depending on the price, and if you *need* the features it offers over the P1/X1E, Id say go for it, but if you want it for novelty or some false preconception that its going to run cooler, last longer on battery, etc, steer clear. Ive been using my P53 exclusively at home (desktop replacement) and dailying my P1G2 for the last couple months for context.

I have been using an X1 Extreme Gen 2 for a while now. I love it but I have really fallen for the build of the workstation P/T series.  


I Love how easy it is to swap out keyboards and the build quality. The Thin and light chassis is nice with the X1 extreme but you can tell that it is at a compromise to thermals as well as (build quality is good but it doesnt have) that inherent ThinkPad quality of user serviceability.    


I found someone selling a P53 locally, same specs as my X1 Extreme Gen 2:
