 This is an ideal machine for someone (like me) who wants high quality PC gaming without the fuss and hassle of constant upgrading or tweaking of standalone components.  If anybody has any questions or feedback for this review, please let me know in the comments!  UPDATE#1 6/5/17: The nVidia GTX 1060 card just fritzed on me, giving me a "code 43" error. No combination of rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling hardware or drivers has been successful. So I have initiated a warranty return and service

 I keep hitting the up arrow instead. Just writing this review is getting annoying.  Does not have G Sync which is a bit of a bummer but for the price it is not that bad. Also, I don't really care about it that much

 I will update this as I run across things that I like and don't like to much. Pros:  The price for these specs is just unrivaled. I have been looking for a laptop with these specs for a reasonable price and nothing has even come close. If you look at laptops in the price range they either have a 1050, which is crap, or a 1060 with 3g, which is also crap

 Why I consider this to be a con is because when gaming it will need to be plugged it. Since I plan to game with it more than anything else that battery is going to get wrecked by having it plugged in 24/7.  Update 6/13/17 Decided to return the laptop. I enjoyed it alot when it was working

Amazing for price

 Some people may not like the black and red stuff, but, to me, they look very good and I like them. I wouldn't have any problem to show in public places with my laptop, unlike other people who wouldn't like to get all the attention because of the gaming accents on the laptop. Overall, the laptop has great performance, gives great experience and what is more, its price is the best! Would totally recommend buying it!

 The battery life is pretty good as well. It can last for 5-6 hours when using it for easy stuff like browsing, working, listening to music or anything like this. When playing, it lasts for maximum 2–2:30 hours. In my opinion, it is a very good battery and I am totally satisfied with it

Our pick for gaming is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022). It features an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU with 8 cores and 16 threads, and you can choose between an AMD Radeon RX 6700S or 6800S GPU. Both GPUs are powerful enough to provide a good gaming experience, and they're also suitable for production workloads like video editing and 3D animation. The laptop feels very well built even though it's mostly plastic, and it's available in two color schemes, Moonlight White or Eclipse Gray.

Performance-wise, the AMD Radeon RX 6700S can push fairly high frame rates, even at the display's native QHD+ resolution. Unlike the previous G14 from 2021, there's now a webcam, and ASUS has also added a Windows Hello&ndash;compatible IR camera for quick logins. There's plenty more to praise about the G14, but the main takeaway is that it's a well-rounded and versatile laptop that most people will be happy with.

You can use the same laptop for gaming and your studies. The Zephyrus G14, with its AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and AMD Radeon RX6800S, delivers gaming-grade performance, but also has some features great for working on campus.

For instance, on our battery test, the Zephyrus lasted more than 10 and a half hours, which means you can go through long lecture halls or stints at the library without plugging in (unless you're gaming, of course). The AMD Advantage model has a 16:10 aspect ratio to show a bit more text, spreadsheets or other work than prior versions.

And while it goes without saying on most laptops, Asus brought the webcam back to this model, for when you need to work remotely or collaborate with others from your dorm room.

If you don't want to spend too much on a premium gaming laptop like the Razer Blade 14 (2022), go with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022). It sports a powerful 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU, and you can choose between an AMD Radeon RX 6700S or 6800S GPU. Both GPUs can push high frame rates to provide smooth gameplay, even in AAA games running at the display's native QHD resolution. As for the display itself, it has a 120Hz refresh rate and a fast response time to deliver a clear image in fast-moving scenes, and it supports FreeSync to reduce screen tearing. The laptop is only available with 1TB of storage, which isn't very much considering modern AAA titles typically take up more than 100GB each; however, the SSD is user-upgradeable, so you can just put in a larger drive.

The keyboard feels comfortable to type on and provides satisfying tactile feedback, and there are plenty of ports for peripherals and external displays. Its 720p webcam is decent if you want to stream, and it supports Windows Hello facial recognition, meaning you can log in quickly. As for battery life, its 76Wh battery lasts through an entire day of light use, but for gaming, you can expect it to last only a little over an hour, so you'll need to use it plugged in most of the time. It gets hot and loud under load, although you can change the fan and thermal profile at the cost of some performance loss.

Another option is the HP OMEN 16 (2022). It's a great alternative if you want a larger 16-inch screen or prefer an Intel/NVIDIA system. It has a better port selection, including an Ethernet port and Thunderbolt 4 support, and it's more upgradeable than the ASUS as you can replace both memory modules, and there are two storage slots, whereas the ASUS only has one user-replaceable memory module and one storage slot. The display doesn't get very bright, so it might not be the best option if you often use the laptop in very well-lit settings.

If you don't want to spend too much on a premium laptop like the Apple MacBook Pro 16 (2021), check out the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022). Yes, gaming laptops are excellent for video editing because there are many similarities for hardware requirements. It's particularly true with the G14, as it sports a sharp 16:10 QHD panel with full DCI P3 coverage. Its factory calibration is good, but you might want to fine-tune it before you do any color work. It has a powerful 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU, and you can choose between an AMD Radeon RX 6700S or 6800S GPU, both of which have enough horsepower to handle video editing.

There are a few downsides you should know about. First, this laptop gets hot and loud under load; you can change the fan settings if it bothers you, but at the cost of some performance loss. Second, the battery lasts a little over an hour when performing demanding tasks like video editing and gaming, meaning you'll have to keep the charger close by. Third, the USB-C ports support USB 3.2 Gen 2 standards, which is much slower than USB4 or Thunderbolt 4. ASUS promised an update that will add USB4 support, but there's no word on the update. Overall, although it doesn't feel as premium as the Apple laptop we recommend above, it's still an excellent laptop for video editing, and it can also double as your gaming PC.

 This is disappointing because most stores that sell the G14 offer a free copy  - no thunderbolt 3  Amazon has also increased the price by 10% since I last bought it a few weeks ago. Consider the price, and whether it's worth it for you. The price will likely go higher than it is now.

 If you are irritated by noise, this laptop is not for you.  - no free copy of assassin's Creed Valhalla. This is disappointing because most stores that sell the G14 offer a free copy  - no thunderbolt 3  Amazon has also increased the price by 10% since I last bought it a few weeks ago. Consider the price, and whether it's worth it for you

Good laptop, but not perfect.

 Alienware m17, good bang for buck, but seems chunky with the big vent on the back. aesthetics are a little too techy for me.

Desktop Replacement/Gaming $1400-2000

I wanted something smaller for lugging to work and didn't have a lot of options so I went with the g14. The specs are ridiculous for it's size so I was expecting a hot laptop that sounded like it was preparing for liftoff when playing demanding games and that's what I got. I didn't expect some rather silly issues like it not wanting to sleep or hibernate and turning my laptop bag into a furnace. Other then that it's been a overpowered for it's size, good laptop
