I own a Hisense A5, and am about to receive a Xiaomi Inkpalm 5. IMO they’re too small for standard manga, and they’re the wrong aspect ratio. I use a Boox Nova for manga (same size as most source material). A 6” poke would be ok, but they’re more fragile.

Received a HiSense Hi Reader yesterday, all the way from China. Had previously used an Inkpalm 5, which I liked but found to be a bit slow.

Very impressed so far. Screen is nice, and the OS is snappy.

It is very convenient to carry and can be easily fit your pocket.". It can be bought now from or direct [from (at half the cost!!). Anyone else know where to buy one of these things?

I have a standard A5 and an Inkpalm. Both are good devices but the Inkpalm is much nicer for reading books. The screen of either is too small for most PDFs or manga.

If you need a 4G/data connection, HiSense phones (e.g. A5) would work. Otherwise the most pocketable e-reader I know of is the Xiaomi Inkpalm 5. Both products are aimed at the Chinese market and available through AliExpress or importers like CECT.

Try searching on Hisense Touch, Xiaomi Inkpalm, and Yi-Ben P47L. All pocketable, and have page turn buttons.

There is inkPalm 5 and also a few eink smartphones from Hisense that has similar ratio. But you'd have to import them and deal with mostly Chinese menus

- Inkpalm 5 - it’s small and light, side buttons seem to be where your hand would be naturally, but is it tiring to have such small screen for novel reading (although I have read novels on my iPhone), and does it matter that its android 8? Also gen 2 doesn’t seem like too much of a change? But it’s hard to tell and the aliexpress seller is happy to put it into English but not sure that means it’s the gen 2.
