What attracted me to buy this bass was the fact that the price was right for such a quality bass.

Warwick RockBass streamer standard 4 string: it felt really weird in my hands, it was really light and l didn't quite like the sound, it was too "thin" and metallic. I don't know why, but it "felt" really cheap, even though it isn't.

I wear both my Warwick streamer and Spector rebop high and it's comfortable. Super comfortable in fact. But I'm also a huge fan of the NS body shape - I think it's by far the best bass guitar shape when it comes to comfort.

I was still about to buy it since it sounded so good, but last minute before making the purchase I decided to also try a Warwick Streamer just for the hell of it. Let me tell you, that was an instant game changer. It felt about 10 times better in my hands than the Jazzbass, and sounded awesome as well. Needless to say, I left there with the Warwick.

I've got a Warwick Rockbass Streamer (~2002ish, passive, with the input jack on the front) tuned to BEAD, with Warwick black label strings.

It sounds like ass.

Is this to be expected, or should I be trying to do something different?

Well I have a Warwick RB Streamer, and it's not curved at all, that's for sure. I too play with my bass high(around half of the bass is staying on my chest) and for me, it is quite comfortable to play when standing up. It doesen't put too much pressure on only one spot of the body and I haven't felt any pain or anything even from longer sessions(3+ hours).

Specifically the streamer stage I is a piece of art, my go to bass, and I will never part with it. I got it a couple of months ago but is without a doubt the best looking, sounding, and playing bass I have ever had the joy of playing on. I would gladly put it up against any boutique bass. The great thing about Warwick living in Europe is that you can always find used ones for relatively cheap, making them great value for money!.

You might find a Warwick Rockbass Streamer or Corvette in that price range. If you don't mind used, then that would be in your range for sure.
