It's strange, but carrying heavier weights in my frameless, hipbeltless ULA Photon feels better (even on my shoulders) than using my ULA Ohm 2.0. I think with the Ohm, I am trying to get the weight to be fully on my hips and I am accidentally walking weirdly to try to get it perfect and it's causing my body to get all jacked up those hikes.

For winter and heavier pack weights of 30-ish pounds, I find the ULA Ohm 2.0 (roll top, not cinch closure) to be super comfy. The removable frame weighs 1.2 oz and does an awesome job of transferring weight to the hips. The hipbelt can be moved up and down to fit your torso perfectly for a goldilocks fit--this was a game changer for me. I can't stand most hip belts (or frames) but ULA's is super comfortable and the pockets are huge!

ULA Ohm: Side compression seems a bit better than the Kakwa, otherwise similar and heavier. Lighterpack:

If you're not married to frameless as other commenters are suggesting, the ULA Ohm checks all your boxes. Did the JMT with mine 3 years ago carrying a BV500 internally and have put another 300+ miles on it since while carrying a similar load to your estimate (food included). Simple but effective velcro loops for holding collapsed poles. Removable frame, removable hipbelt, roll top, and included compression cords can reduce the volume to daypack size as well.

The ULA Ohm 2.0 is a great pack for the AT. Or bump up the size and get the ULA Circuit in case you plan on doing the PCT and CDT later. The circuit is what I have now and I’ll be doing the CT in July, following it with the PCT next April. The pa’lante v2 is an excellent choice, so it’s a bummer they’re sold out, I used that same bag last year when going NOBO.
