I ordered the black Teva Women's Hurricane XLT Sandal in size 8M which is my normal size for any shoe from dress shoe to flip-flops and they always fit perfectly. The package arrived very quickly and nicely packaged, but when I took the sandals out of the box I freaked. I thought that a men's sandal had been packed in error because they were huge. My first reaction was to return them, but after verifying that they really were women's size 8M (as ordered) and that there are no half sizes made for this specific sandal, I decided to put them on

Sandals for "Big Foot"

 Like it feels, it feels like you're on firm footing when you have these. So if you're looking for some sandals that will put you on firm footing or at least make you feel that way, check these out. They're by Teva. I like them a lot

 I mean even with these on, you know, a big part of my foot is exposed to the elements, right? So usually in a shoe you're completely covered and protected from the elements. So shoes usually provide, you know, more stability and more protection. So sandals always provide less. So these, you're still getting that exposure up top, so you're feeling that openness of the sandal, but because it has a bigger footprint you're getting a better traction, I think

 Maybe they're designed in a way to give you that stability, right? Because they definitely feel a lot more stable than your everyday sandals. So if you're looking for some stable sandals, it's a weird thing for me to say, but they grip really well. Like it feels, it feels like you're on firm footing when you have these. My doc recommended "anything with arch support", so that wasn't too helpful. I've got really wide and flat feet. Ideally, I'd find one shoe or strappy sandal (prefer no thongs) that works well in and out of water (swimming holes/kayaking) and is also cute enough to wear around town and out to dinner because I hate packing extra shoes in my bag. I have wonderful hiking shoes for actual hikes / stream crossings (Altra Lone Peaks!) so I'm not looking for bulky hiking sandals like Keens. Trying to stay under $100. Does such a shoe exist?

Looking for a unicorn - *wide* multipurpose sandal or water shoe with major arch support

 EVER. They show NO signs of wear - with the exception of dog fur in the velcro (is there a remedy for that??). I wash them occasionally with my towels and air dry them - and they look NEW coming out every time. I have logged thousands of miles on them - and they are still the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn

 They fit perfect! I did have a bit of a problem with the strap digging into my bunion - but I loosened both the straps on that foot and have had no more comfort issues. I've been walking an average of 5-10 miles a day - and all in these. They still look awesome - just go get them already!

  The lack of / minimal padding: Also not an issue; but again, I normally take a size 8.5. Still, I think that Teva sandals in particular can often -- albeit not always -- be adjusted fairly easily.  Sole: Reasonably comfortable, although the toe area may have rubbed a tiny bit -- nothing all that problematic in the long-run, from what I can tell

 I tried the Hurricane XLT2 and felt them to be very comfortable + liked that they said can be used as water sports. (I mainly hike in my boots or running shoes and then switch to sandals for when I’m near the waters or done hiking and want my feet to be free from the hiking books to relax in for normal walking).

 .I'll admit, one of the swaying factors for me was the Blue Celtic Knot design offered for this shoe.  I wore these sandals as long as I could, until winter weather approached and forced me to retire them. Because they're so adjustable, I started wearing wool socks underneath them and just widening some of the straps, and it worked very well

A very gel-like sole, with a larger heel to minimize impact

 I found on my barefoot walks (and with those old "gladiator sandals" with a sole so thin, it's a mere strip of leather) that many people tend to slam their heel down first when walking. These shoes reduce any discomfort caused by that. I wore them every single day, on all types of terrain (except the occasional wet metal; that's slippery! Other than that, the tread is great).  Normal flip flops and sandals (general summerwear for shoes) has nowhere near the sole support and padding this shoe does

I've spilled food and tea on them, walked in the rain and through puddles on them, and they handle it like a champ
