I was starving for black Friday sales this year, but didn't know what to do. I was torn between White's Main Street cap toe, Grant Stone's Diesel and the Lakeshore. Overall, while I know there were QC issues in the past, I've heard nothing bad about Oak Street. For White's, I'm kind of on the fence about them. The style of the cap eventually turned me off, and the boot was a bit boring, too. Grant Stone's sale was obnoxious because the discount started above the boot price point and I decided I wanted to go up a step in quality - especially with what I'd been reading on here.

Oh, I also chose these over the trench boot cap toe because I wanted something smooth enough to wear to the office, but to also kick ass in.

**First impression**:

These looked really nice. The leather is thick. They look solid, but dressy-ish, which is what I desperately wanted. The cap is pronounced, but not silly. And, I didn't see anything major wrong with them. So far, so good.

**Fit:**

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. I wear a size 12 in boots, have a size 12 Higgins Mill, so went with a size 12 here. It worked. A little tough to slide on because the leather is so thick (not much flex to start). And schwooomp (sucking noise with a little thud at the end) my foot went right into place and everything in the world looked a little brighter. I'm wearing them around the house a bit right now. I know they're going to take a bit of time to break in, but they're super comfy just sitting here typing this.

**Customer service:**

I emailed a question to White's about sizing. They sent me back a one line answer, which was fine. Good response and appreciated.

I emailed Oak Street about when their sale might start because I really wanted these boots, and Hailey wrote me back super fast and responded to an additional question quickly and cordially. I was happy with that. 

**Misc**: 

The boots came in a week. That made me super happy. I didn't want to wait 4-6 weeks or 16-72 months. I wanted my damn boots. I got 'em.

**Overall:**

I needed black boots since I dumped my Thursdays (because I just couldn't take them anymore) and this group made me hate all fashion boots - goodbye Steve Madden. I'm also tired of Docs and clunky shoes. These are what I needed. They can be worn to work (office), work hanging out and doing a semi-fancy thing. Definitely not suit boots, but they look good. I also am happy I got the cap toe. I think the plain toe would have been a little too long looking (size 13 D here).

For anyone looking, two thumbs up for Oak Street Bootmaker. I'll updated once I have time to wear them a bunch.
