If you've seen my review of the Prime Pinnacle speakers which is also from SVS then you'll know I'm a big fan of the tweeter which they both share.

I recently got a pair of SVS Ultra Tower speakers for my home theater setup. Previously I was just a headphone audiophile making do with cheap pawn shop speakers, so these were a huge step up; I'm not sure I've ever heard, much less owned, speakers this nice. I'll be using them more for movies and gaming than for music, but they seem to do superbly at whatever I throw at them.

I'm not going to bore you with all the fancy buzz words audiophiles may use to describe a pair of speakers. Quite simply, these Ultra Towers are beautiful to look at and listen to. My only issue is lack of low end punch. After reading a dozen reviews on these speakers I was expecting to be blown awa...

Too overpriced, especially the subwoofer. Even on sale it is a bad value.

I like the sound of elac in general but the svs ultra in piano black, I wouldn't be able to say no to. I keep hearing they aren't that great but I will reserve judgment until I a get a chance to hear a set.

I'm big into music, so I'd suggest getting the towers and filling out the system later. Search hifishark for 'SVS ultra.' It searches most of the audio marketplaces, so you can see what's available near you - you can probably save yourself around a $1000 on those towers. It also has a history tab, so you can see what people have paid for the equipment your after.
