 Every little note that's taking place that you're listening to has its own sense of space, and it's just a very awesome experience if you've never actually heard something like this before. This is going to be a huge difference. The bass on the Bacarts is way stronger. It can go way deeper and hit way harder

 I mean those speakers can actually rumble, whereas the SVS speakers not quite as much, but there's a compromise here because even though the S300s can dig low and hit hard, they really need a lot of space in order to sound their best. I would say that you need to give them at least three feet away from any wall boundary in order to really give you both clean and powerful bass, whereas the SVS Ultras you can actually get away with putting them in a small to medium-sized room and even near a wall boundary. I would say even about a foot away from any wall boundary should be okay with these speakers, so it's a little bit of give and take. Now when it comes to imaging, this is where things are a little bit interesting because pointed straight out into the room, the Bacart S300s cast a much wider soundstage

 It's just going to give you this much more holographic stereo image, whereas with the Bacarts or with the SVS speakers, when you point them towards you, that's when everything snaps together. And I would say that they're going to give you just a little bit, just a little bit more image depth in between the speakers, but only just a little bit because honestly the Bacarts aren't that bad in that either. Now when it comes to power handling, I would say both are very similar to one another, but I would give the edge to SVS here because even though these speakers produce a big sound and they're meant to actually fill big spaces with big sound, they aren't meant to blast at rock concert level volumes, whereas SVS knows that hey, a lot of our customers, they do want to take things very loud and I feel like these speakers can accommodate that just a little bit better. Now when it comes to power sensitivity, I would say that the SVS speakers are easier to drive

 That just makes things easier, right? So what you're looking at here is going to be a simple rear-ported two-way design. On the top we have a one-inch aluminum dome tweeter, and on the bottom we have a six and a half inch, what do they call it, a composite glass fiber cone woofer. Now you're going to notice that the edges of the speakers are bezeled, and that's to help with edge diffraction, which basically means they're trying to give you a product that casts a wide soundstage while at the same time having this locked in center image right in between the speakers. So moving to the back, well first we got a comment on the finish here

Review! The SVS ULTRA Bookshelf Loudspeaker!

The speakers are good. However

 That is the ninth speaker of a nine speaker group mega test. But you know what? I'm not happy about finishing this group test on an odd number because it makes doing sound demonstration videos between two speakers very, very difficult. So what comes next? Well, the tenth speaker in this group test, which is going to be the Dyne Audio Evoque 10. So that will be the next review and that will be the final review of this group test

 And I feel like they are definitely and clearly a step up over the prime bookshelf speakers in some certain key and critical areas. I feel like there's probably some design principles shared across the speakers, as you would expect. But as I mentioned, in key areas, I feel like the Ultras are definitely a step up over the primes. If that's of any help or use to you, if you're trying to decide between the two speakers whether the Ultras are worth the extra or maybe you're considering upgrading from the prime to the Ultras, well, hopefully this review will help you some

 And when I switched to the AE500, the scale of sound wasn't there, but the vocals from the AE500 were so much more relaxed, with more space around them. And they just had that sweet and soulful character when it needed to be there with the music. I feel like the overall presentation from the Ultras is a little bit of an enigma in this group test, but I do have to remind myself of their design goal. I feel like they are probably the only speaker in this group test that will be designed very much with home theatre use in mind, probably predominantly or main priorities of home theatre use

 But I think what might be important is do you think there might be a different set of priorities as part of the design for a speaker that's predominantly designed for home theater or predominantly designed to be used to listen to hi-fi or stereo two-channel music? And I just want you to hold that thought for a minute. The SVS Ultra are a £999 rear-ported two-way speaker that's pretty large among its peers, almost Bukhar S300 large, which means they are quite a bit larger than the LS50 Meta, the Acoustic Energy AE500, the Neat Acoustics and on and on. You get the idea. And I think that does really matter here because they do look large up on speaker stands and that no doubt has an influence on their overall performance

SVS ULTRA Bookshelf Speakers REVIEW Better than KEF ATC Buchardt ?

 They are quite neutral overall, but again your room acoustics will play a major role in the final end product. Break-in seems to start around 50 to 60 hours, 100 hours or so of use will extend bass response and smooth out the top end, around 200 hours the depth of soundstage really opens up and I found myself listening to the music instead of hearing the speakers. I guess my final thought would be, speakers are of course both subjective and personal not an absolute science by any stretch of the imagination. The Ultra bookshelf's are both a pleasant surprise and a joy to spend time with

 Many times in a multi channel home theater set-up, it is much more difficult to hear the sonic signature of any individual speaker therefore masking imperfections that when used in the full range stereo mode, can be much more evident even to those with an untrained ear. The Ultra bookshelf's will tell you all about where your system may need improvements, but are forgiving even when used with entry level components. The point here is that the speakers themselves are not the limiting factor in performance, but can take full advantage of even the most esoteric electronics available. They just continue to sound better, allowing you to enjoy more of the 'grow into philosophy' as opposed to 'grow out of philosophy' feeling the need to replace your speakers

 Proving again that sometimes less is more. You might just find yourself having 'fun' listening to things from the back of your album and cd collection all over again because its the music that really matters after all..

You may not be familiar with SVS products, but if your looking for a great set of loudspeakers with exceptional dynamics, detail, and that also deliver a soundstage that puts many more familiar brand names to shame, the Ultra Bookshelf is one of the best compact loudspeakers I have ever heard! The quality of the drivers are first rate and rival many other manufactures speakers in the same price range mute when it comes to overall response and authority both with or without a subwoofer. Most of my listening was done without a sub in full range, as a stereo pair. SVS Ultra Bookshelfs Prove Good Things Can Come In Small Packages

 One of the things that I admire so much about this guy is its versatility with all of the features that are packed inside here, including Dirac, so for some of you folks that want to be able to seamlessly integrate the SVS Ultra's with a subwoofer and do some bass management and some room correction, you will be able to do that and in my experience, it sounds quite good, especially if you're focused on the lower frequencies when it comes to room correction. Either way, I use this guy, it was awesome, sounded great, and it was incredibly ballsy, so one of the key differences between this guy and the shit stack is this is 100 watts and I think that is making some difference, but I think because of the room correction features and being able to give a little bit more of an even response and extending the SVS Ultra's actually all the way down to 40 hertz in room, I was able to do a little bit more in terms of bass department with this guy than I was with the shit stack and what that ended up giving me was a little bit more punch and clarity within the bass and also the mid-bass, so this guy is certainly worth checking out, but what if you don't want to spend north of 2500 bucks if you decide to get the SVS Ultra's? Okay, now this guy is interesting and no, this is not an SVS commercial, they did send this out to review, this goes with the SVS Ultra's like peanut butter and jelly, it's a fantastic, absolutely great purchase at only 499 bucks. What? Yeah, you heard me right, 499 bucks and guess what, you're done. There are a couple of things about this guy that you need to know, it is more of an amplifier from the future and what I mean by that is you're not given a traditional remote, you're going to be running everything off of your smart device, your phone, tablet, etc

 We would see 15 or 20. Let's just see how many parts that we can throw onto this thing to fix it and they didn't have to because they started with solid engineering and I got to give them kudos for that. So knowing what's on the inside of the speaker, I'm not shocked at all to see that we have a sandcast resistor. I'm not shocked at all to see that we have an electrolytic cap

, etc. The nice thing about this guy is you have 150 watts per channel to play with, it is class D and no, I'm not afraid to say that and no, it does not bother me. I think this amplifier sounds fantastic with the SVS Ultra's and I would be hard pressed to say that I can hear a huge difference in sound quality from this guy to the NADM10 which is also class D, either way, this thing sounds ballsy and it's able to wake up the SVS Ultra's like nobody's business, so a great contender, a fantastic option. If they hadn't started with the right drivers and they were just, oh, let's just throw some stuff together and see what happens, we wouldn't see five parts on the crossover

SVS Ultra | Audiophile Loudspeaker Review!

Bought these hoping they'd be the KEF LS50 killers The Master Switch painted them to be.  But it was no contest. Not even close. Besides being bulky and unattractive, these were hands-down the most clinical speakers I've ever heard

Precision at the expense of enjoyment

 Your high resolution MP3s and other digital files will really shine when played through these speakers. As I'm writing this, I'm listening to a concerto for flute and harp and the sound is crisp and sharp. Actually, every genre of music I've played through these sounds quite good, but they are, I think, at their very best with jazz. The textures of music by Miles, Ray Brown, Milt Jackson, Cedar Walton, Donald,Byrd, Jeremy Pelt and others is reproduced with great accuracy

I've had these speakers about 3 weeks. They are fully broken in and I must say that all of the positive reviews I read were spot on. These bookshelves are very well balanced. The bass coming from these speakers is impressive

They Suck - yes literally they suck you in with their Amazing Sound. Theses speakers look Amazing! They are worth the asking price, and compete with the KEF LS50's that I own These speakers sound amazing These Speakers have excellent detail retrieval / from the Highs, Mids, and Lows Vocals sound amazing These do not Sound harsh, At all! They are very linear - sound good at low volumes (40-45db), excellent at medium (50-65db), and loud volumes (65db and above) The Finish is Amazing! even my wife likes them, she does not the KEF's, and my audioengione a5+ You can use them as studio monitors in the right space, they are THAT BALANCED! Amazing Sound Stage! - tweeter is also Amazing, it is not harsh, but will do very good job of getting the most out of your dialogue, and music No Subwoofer needed with Proper placement, and Small Rooms for music  NOW for some caveats They need Space, at least 8 inches from the back wall, and at least 18 inches from side walls, and at least 7 feet between the speakers They need POWER! - I have noticed that they Love High Current Amplifiers, they sound better to me with my Parasound A21 (250W @ 8ohms Both channels driven) compared to me Emotiva TA-100 They DO need a subwoofer in a large room. They Suck - In the Absolute Best way!!

 The tweeters are incredibly clear. I've had tweeters that were too sharp and trebbily. Expecially at higher volumes. Not these

 I elevated them about 10" off the floor on Chinese fishbowl stands, with a round tempered glass on top of the stands to place the speakers on. I insulated athem with felt stickers. These put out enough bass to be used alone, and sound great with the tv during regular broadcasts, movies, and during some commercials and broadcast graphic intro/exits. The can punch out club music, and symphonic classical works as well

 They do need a break in to give you their full potential. They will impress when used on quality recordings, and serve as a great background pair when watching HDTV. Overall, strong on bass extension and adequate in the upper frequency range, but sensitive to the recording quality. 4
