Sony X900F

So overall the X900F is a great TV, but improvements are marginal over last year's X900E.

I currently own Sony x900f from 2017 and Samsung KS8000 from 2016 both are good tvs but not perfect TVs and I paid about $1200 for samsung and about $1600 for sony. I recently got a 55inch Hisense U8H as well. I do have a little bit of DSE and color banding can be an issue on certain content and yes upscaling of the lower quality content isn't that great.

This TV looks beautiful and the picture quality is very nice. The uniformity looks pretty excellent though I stopped looking for imperfections because once you find it, you can unsee it. However, the Android TV OS is terrible and makes me wish I never bought the TV. I read the warnings in the review...

While the picture is great for non-HDR, the problem is HDR , especially Disney streaming dolby vision doesn't look so good compared to my Sony X900f. Basically temper your expectations.

Very poor software. Unacceptable. In the just over 3 weeks I kept (before return) it performed 2 software updates. Neither repaired main issue. Its not like the old days when companies used to care for quality now all they care about is quantity so welcome on the boat and join us hunters who are in search for tvs without issues but never find one. I just bought my first Hisense U8H which has its own issues like color banding. I still have samsung ks8000 from 2016 and Sony X900f from 2017 and those also have their own issues so bottom line is there is no brand or model in the market that is completely issue free. Even OLEDs have issues.

Came from an X900F to CX and the contrast blew me away. The X900 had decent HDR and good peak brightness, but the difference is night and well, actual daylight. That said, you really need to have a dark or very dim room to get the most out of OLED, even the newest models will struggle somewhat in a brightly lit room. As far as streaming content, it depends on where you stream whether they provide 4k/HDR or if you have to pay extra.

X900f is an amazing tv! I just gave mine to my daughter when I upgraded to the 77 a80j. You will not be disappointed.
