Against the generally applicable inverse correlation between brightness and CRI, I was hoping this would not be the case, and the diminished brightness of this version of the E2A is mentioned nowhere that I was able to find by Skilhunt. While the E2A produces an enjoyably even beam pattern, both its throw and spill are surpassed by the Nichia Tool AA, though the throw almost imperceivably so. In practice, the decreased spill of the E2A makes it feel like it gives you much less light to work with than the Tool AA.

Difficult Switch Operation Mars Nice Light

**Bottom line**. The Skilhunt E2A is a great, no-frills EDC flashlight.Its build quality is excellent and the TIR + SST20 combo provides a very usable beam.The power regulation graphs indicate that it really performs great when used with a regular / NiMH AA battery, so that's what I'll be using it with.Overall I thinks it's really worth its **< €20** price tag.

Unfortunately, the Convoy store is closed at the moment due to a Covid outbreak in the city where they're located. [Skilhunt is similar to T2/3 and is a good option that's available in the US.

Is there "go-to" AA flashlight?

Convoy have a T2 flashlight that's a single AA/14500. I'd recommend the 219c 5700k. Also worth looking at Skilhunt E2A and Lumintop Tool AA.

Best Single AA, AAA Flashlights?

[Manker E02 AAA/10440, lots of modes, *very* dim moonlight, end switch, right angle, magnetic tailcap, 4000K 95CRI, up to 420lm with 10440. [Manker E03 same as E02 II but uses AA/14500 and has colored filters. [Fenix E12 AA, reverse clicky tailcap, 3 modes, up to 160lm, very small for a AA light with a tailswitch, bidirectional clip, cool white only.
