I'd never heard of it but holy hell it rocked. By far the best sub $1k bass I've ever played.

Was looking for something more trebly and melodic than my Precision. Went to the store, tried some basses. Didn't know much about the Marcus Miller Sire basses, but fell in love immediately. The guy at the store even said "I could tell you liked that one", because I was jamming on it for quite some time haha.

Opinions on the Squire Classic Vibe 60's Jazz Bass?

Consider a Sire Marcus Miller bass. Amazing value and playability. I’ve been ignoring my Dingwall a lot since picking up a V5 on a whim.

Looking for advice on gear

Sire Marcus Miller V and P series has a lot of good options. P style, J style, active or passive. Most are under $1000 and there are used ones you can find online.

I've been thinking of getting a Jazz bass been eyeing online at the Sire Marcus Miller V5, some G&L and the Fender Player Series, today went to Guitar Center and they had two Fender, three Squier and surprisingly one Sire V3, and I have to say the Fender quality control left me quite disappointed. Action was so high on both of them was almost unplayable, the finish on the chrome of the bridge looked pretty ugly and it just seemed really basic.

I just invested in a really affordable Marcus Miller V5 bass after years of playing a Mexican Jazz and although it's technically a Jazz copy on paper, it's opened up a whole new world for me.
