This is what I have been looking for. I traveled this year and the backpack I have just wasn't what I needed. Now this backpack is great, with being able to tuck in straps and waistband makes it ideal for carry on for airplanes. Very comfortable to wear.

I bought one of these back in summer 2004, and I'm just now considering replacing it with a new one. It went on deployment and was my main bag after I got out. I used it for well over a decade before my daughter used it in high school.
