So, I had an R710 at home during Covid, as I was testing out the enterprise controller when the company sent everyone home. Fucking hated their controller, the unleashed firmware was way better in my opinion, but that went against what we were looking for in our company, as we were looking to manage hundreds of devices over dozens of buildings in several states. I also had a Ubiquiti NanoHD. They both technically should have been the same class, but the comparatively speaking, the Ruckus should have been better.

For WiFi APs, I suggested getting used Ruckus r610/r710 APs and load them with ruckus unleashed firmware. No support contract needed. One of my friends replaced his amplifi HD and his family stop complaining about bad WiFi. Anyway, l have been deploying ruckus APs to clients since 2014 and it’s great and very reliable.

I have a large house with a complex layout, including a basement. I had been using three WAP371 access points, but they just weren't doing the job. Even at new pricing I feel that the Ruckus Networks equipment is fairly priced for the performance you get. It's definitely in the "10,000 Square Foot Townhouse" price range, but the performance seems to back it up. I have a lot of 2.4GHz "IoT" gear on the AP and it doesn't even seem to be bothered. The 5GHz side is also super solid and fast, even though my older used unit (R710) is just a 802.11ac Wave 2 4x4x4 unit.
