Ask HN: Are there any reasonable alternatives to MacBook Pro for developer?
I use a Razer Blade '14.I would say its probably the best laptop in its class - even beating the MBP.
I finally got a chance to trouble-shoot a couple weeks ago during a visit and it appears the 3070 (2021 Razer Blade 14) failed. Fortunately the integrated graphics still work, so the laptop is usable. Contacted help support, they started a warranty return, since my son needs a laptop in college I asked about getting a new laptop sent ahead of time (with a credit card hold for it) and they agreed that was an option.

Best gaming ultrabook in the world! :D
I rushed to buy it as soon it was released and I don`t have no regrets at all! For small gaming laptop amazing performance, low fan noise around 40-45db, and very decent temperature and amazing battery life in such compact package! I managed to get even 14 hours and 35 minutes on full hd 60 hz, 30% ...

A Small, But Very Powerful Device
Review is based of having the computer as a daily driver for a week. This meant all my gaming and media consumption was off of this machine. I have used this machine "docked" to an external keyboard and monitor during the day at my desk, and use it as a standard unplugged laptop at night. The TLDR i...

Like so many others here, my Razer Blade 14" (2017 model) had the bloated battery problem. The laptop swelled up so severely I removed the battery to prevent it from destroying the body of the unit.

Xiaomi’s first laptop is a Macbook Air rival
I have a 2015 Razer Blade that I really like. I use it as a my daily Linux work computer and it runs Ubuntu great (with the caveat that I don't use sleep, hibernate, or the nvidia card; and the webcam doesn't work).Pros:- Almost unbeatable specs for the chassis size- 14" display, which seems to be getting rarer now, but I really appreciate the extra inch of screen space- High quality display, if you get a good IGZO panel.
So, just want to leave this here in case there are other people who's battery life is suffering because of this too. I basically use my Razer Blade 14 for both productivity and gaming, and I switch back and forth between using it with my setup in the office (including an external monitor) and mobile on the go.

Was great till it wasn't
This laptop started off excellent. Screen looked great, Track pad was great. Started to download a few games and the Wifi went out. The Bluetooth still worked but no wifi. Called razer, they sent me an email for me to troubleshoot. Then I was to email them with what I found out. Really Razer? After ...

The New System76 Galago Pro Is a Potential Macbook Killer
I own a 2015 Razer Blade 14 and am overall fairly happy with it, just be aware that it is a gaming machine first and foremost, and as such has very mediocre (~5 hour web browsing) battery life. This is compounded by the notoriously bad power management on most Linux distros, and there are some minor driver support issues (mostly due to the NVidia 970M).
