What's the best e-reader money can buy, in the market right about now?

In other words, you are choosing between "not enough" and "the bare minimum". PocketBook InkPad X can read all ebook formats, including non-DRM Amazon books and it has many features but the screen is not as nice as on the Scribe and it's a little slow for big PDFs. It also doesn't have expandable storage, so you are stuck with the measly 32GB of onboard storage.

This is a beautiful ereader. The screen is very clear, lighting even, easy setup. I wanted a larger reader with the warm light and decided to splurge and pay the high cost. You can easily swap out the internal microSD card for one with bigger storage, it’s compatible with Adobe digital editions ADE)/ has overdrive integration allowing you to borrow library books with ease (in specific countries directly from the device itself), or easily transfer them as well as DRMd books purchased from Google play books/ directly from publishers. It’s a really excellent device, has a really crisp 300ppi screen, and is compact and portable.

Can you recommend me an ereader that doesn't need Wi Fi or an account to be used?

I have a Pocketbook inkpad 3 and I didn't need to log in with any bank info, I don't think I needed to log in with anything, although I chose to log into my Dropbox account so I could sync the books from wherever.

Works with Adobe Digital Editions beautifully allowing reading of owned drm content acquired from some other sources via ADE. Reading experience is wonderful. Markup and highlighting tools could be improved. Native PDF reading is much better, though still not as nice as reading EPUB.
