\- Boyue 78 (solid candidate, android based). \- pocketbook inkpad 3 pro (OK solution, weak hardware, physical buttons, excellent with koreader for optimal PDF reading).

Could be physically tougher

Design is good and the screen is a pleasure to read from. Software is a bit inconvenient and sometimes buggy. Sadly the device broke after I put too much grocery into the packpack where it was stored in a padded laptop compartment.

Large simple ebook reader.

Pocketbook Inkpad X if screen resolution is an issue since the Inkpad lite has a lower ppi.

Also consider Kobo Elipsa. The Kobo platform is pretty simple to use regardless of the note-taking function.

I don't need the color function as well. I have an iPad for that purpose. * Pocketbook Inkpad 3, the device is dated, and the E-reader has Micro-USB on board.

Good while it works but mine has stopped after just 6 months.

While it works it's good. Mine has stopped after 6 months and I've just been told that there are no options g for refunds or repairs. Buyer beware!!! Back to Kobo I suppose.
