Orphan Espresso Lido E

It’s excellent for filter coffee and that’s what I use it for everyday. With the Lido, I think of the settings as a coordinate system and you can easily go from one grind setting to another by thinking in terms of rotation + notches. For the Lido E, espresso is 0+6 to 0+8, zero rotations and 8 notches, for v60 osmotic method, it’s 2+2, 2 full rotations +2 notches. It’s easy to turn but can be slow, like 1 minute for 35g of filter coffee, compared to 30 seconds on the Pharos.

The plastic container used to hold grinds does not stay on after mere months of use. The grinder uses cheap plastic parts that gets stripped after light use and I was forced to buy replacement parts. Out of the three I like the Lido E the least. The adjustment method and the size made it very cumbersome to use. The relatively short turn handle to body ratio adds to the effort it takes to grind coffee. In comparison, the other 2 are much more pleasant of an experience to use.

In general good, but I am not crazy about the adjustment method, and I'm not particularly fond of the way the burrs feel misaligned at 'esspresso grinds'. Found a local barely used Eureka Mignon Specialita for $250, super excited to upgrade from my hand-grinder Lido E. I loved my hand grinder for the last two years, but it's finally time to move on from hand grinding over 60g of beans every day.

Great grinder. True to the hype. Only negative with my unit is the screws are toned down way to tightly making disassembly impossible.

I got an open box R58 and an Orphan Espresso Lido-E. I used that grinder for about a year and then upgraded to the Flat Max and Flat. Overall, like others have said, the first thing I've noticed compared to the previous equipment is stability and consistency. Of course, I still have to dial in the grinders when switching roast batches and beans, but that is true for any grinder.

Update Aug 2020 I have seldom been so impressed with a product in this age of promises, hype and poor quality control. I am using this on a regular basis with my La Pavoni lever espresso maker and my Beko automatic Turkish coffee maker and I have never had better results. So happy I spent the money ...

I'm using the Orphan Espresso (OE) Fixie which is suitable for espresso. There are better high end options in hand grinders that can be a cheaper and effective option over conventional electric grinders.
