I BOUGHT THIS PROJECTOR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST *bang for my *buck! Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. The projector is pretty loud and there is only ONE HMDI opening. This confused me because the remote has “HMDI 1” and “HDMI 2” and the pamphlet that comes with it also says there...

But it seems that would put me in an even lower price level with something like the HD146X, which seems counter-intuitive when I'm looking for a more satisfying image. Also, that whole range of Optomas seems to be hybrid cinema-gaming projector, with a lot of weight put in the gaming functions.

The remote works about 1 in 127 times. I usually have to physically turn the projector on. I've changed the batteries, I've tried other remotes, I've changed where I stand, how I stand, sitting, mouth open, eyes closed, and from all angles of the projector. It's really just a gamble at this point

But I just purchased an Optoma HD146X (on sale 489) believing that I was stepping up to a better projector. OMG! What a piece of crap! Seriously any upgrade in Resolution, Contrast, Brightness, OSD and Noise is lost within it's total crappy-ness...

I've had the 243x model now for almost 2 months and have used it nearly every day. Most of the time not even turning on my 4k tv just for the size factor. 100 in screen, with enough brightness to even have a light on in the background without it making the image unwatchable. But I have been really surprised with how great it is. Runs full hd and looks really great. On the top end of your budget but I strongly recommend it.
