Still, though, it was not bright at all compared to the epson 3200 in anyway EXCEPT the whites were bright in some weird spots. Anyways, in every test imaginable the OPTOMA looked not as good as the epson. I was blown away with how much my expectations were being let down. I was so excited because I waited 2+ weeks for the Optoma and I was let down heavy.

These are just a few of the issues: 1.The front grill is covered in the same grey cloth as a google mini. I don't know about you, but my family hates google products. I replaced it with an Epson LS500. CORNER FOCUS. The Epson LS500 has razor sharp corner focus that is manually adjusted vs the Optoma P2 which is auto adjusted and is extremely difficult to get both of the upper corners focused at the same time. As soon as one is focused on the Optoma, the other side goes out of focus.

I am coming from a BenQ HT2050, which is a $700 1080p lamp projector with moderate brightness. I also use a tab-tensioned, motorized screen that is NOT ambient light rejecting, but works great with the BenQ in lower ambient light. I wonder how Samsung can charge £6999 for the top end LSP9T (which I tested in my friends Richer Sounds store) when you can get a similar performance for around £1999 for the Optoma P2. Please let me know if you have experienced this projector and aside from being a laser projector it also plays 3D movies. Another thing is I love how easy it's to fit it in any type of screen size upto 120". You can pull the 4 corners and it takes seconds and is the best screen adjust system I have ever seen, this is coming from a guy that owned several JVC, Sony and Epson projectors.

Additionally, there are three large windows to the right of where the screen will go. So essentially there is a large amount of ambient light from the right, but also some that leaks from the kitchen and dining room. All that said, the brightness of the P2 still is sufficient.

The Optoma Cinemax P2 also uses pixel shifting to display 4K pixels. Don't be fooled by the marketing. You're not going to be able to find a consumer 4K projector that doesn't rely on pixel shifting.
