Finally settled on Mühle R89 for a 2-days growth and Mühle R41 for more than 2+days growth beard (yes, I'm lazy sometimes, okay?). On a growth that's over 3 days, I'd do first pass with R41 and then the second one, against the grain, with R89, with increasingly satisfactory results.

It’s a fine razor. It copies the head that the Edwin Jagger DE89 and Muhle R89 use or at least very close to it, which are among some of the most favored “beginner” razors. I’m using one right now myself since the threading on my DE89 handle is starting to fail and I think it’s much better than the cheap butterfly handled razors that stores sometimes sell.

I got myself a Mühle R89 today and a pack of different blades. I popped in a blade and tried to shave my 2 day beared. It felt like I was just gliding a piece of blunt metal on my face. I thought the blade was dull.

I picked up the Muhle R89 and I tried to use an old blade, the Gillette Platinum...Even after 6 or 7 uses (I don't remember honestly), this blade is the perfect blade for my skin. It's SUPERB. No tugging, no stumble, just perfect, like a hot knife on butter. Smooth, comfortable, and a damn close shave.
