Footprint fit is off
I bought this when it went on sale and was psyched to use it on a recent backpacking trip in Colorado, was in the 30s over night and I was toasty inside even with all the mesh. The footprint straps seem to have the grommets in the wrong place, making it impossible to get a tight fit. Seems to be a d...

Looking for a good 2p tent
If you want to save a little coin but sacrifice for weight, you can look at the Marmot Tungsten 2P or the Sierra Design Meteor 2. There’s others out there that are lighter or heavier, but I’d start there and figure out what you want most (e.g. weight, durability, or cost). You can get two out of the 3, but not all 3.
Marmot Tungsten 2P Review: Best Backpacking Tent Review
It’s perfect for new campers or people looking for an easy car-camping tent at a reasonable price. The $214 price tag makes it a very budget-friendly option if you are looking to start getting outside more. With a traditional setup style that will be familiar to any outdoors person and good weather protection, the Tungsten does a fine job

Phenomenal tent
After using hand me down tents for quite a while, I have nothing but good things to say about this tent. So far I've taken it to a few festivals, backpacking and quick camping trips. The rain fly holds up very well and the footprint keeps the bottom of the tent nice and dry. It's incredibly fast to ...

What should be the weight of my camping pack?
* Marmot Tungsten 2p. Fantastic very durable and inexpensive 2 person backpacking tent.
New to backpacking, working on my first gear set
Use a bic lighter instead of the fire starter, invest in a quality sleeping pad with like a Nemo alpine (can use in winter) it’s way more comfortable than what you selected. Go with the Tungsten 2p tent, it’s a quality tent that will last. You don’t have to be ultralight but you should seriously take into consideration the weight of the items and more importantly the size of the items in making your decision on what to buy.

Marmot Tungsten 2P w/ Footprint
Overall, the tent has a weight of just under 5 pounds, so it's definitely not considered an ultralight tent, but it's great for the backpacker or recreational camper or simply anyone who wants a solid tent at a reasonable price. The Marmot tungsten two-person tent with footprint.

Love Moosejaw and the Tent
Tent is as advertised. Rain fly is the bulk of the size and weight, so without that it is even lighter.Footprint is handy to have. All you need in one bag. Pictures are also accurate.
Loved working with Moosejaw. Helpful representatives who answered right away and were very helpful.

A tent is the last thing I need. Is a TarpTent (or similar) for beginner inadvisable?
It's sturdy, light, and around your price range. Great vestibule for gear, good headroom, and fits us both (5'2" and 5'10") with a bit of room to spare.
