I bought the LG SPK8-S rear satellite speakers brand new from Best Buy for only $129, because they gave $50 off when purchasing with a sound bar. They’re normally $179. The SPK8-S rear satellite speakers are definitely compatible with the SP8YA even though most literature you’ll read, even that from LG, doesn’t list the SP8YA as one of the compatible sound bars.

LG SNXYG series are interesting too, good prices, some models have vertical speakers (model SN7YG & over if I'm not mistaken), and they offer the possibility to add optional rear speakers (LG SPK8-S). Some higher end Samsung models & Sony do offer that option too, but at quite a higher price tag. The Klipsch cinema models are also interesting. The Cinema 600 model is a good 3.1 for instance, but they are not as easily found as other brands.

These unit's should've been upward firing as well as the main bar being such. Hard not to recommend since they are the only ones available for the SLY10 I bought along with these. I'm not completely satisfied with this product. When it works it's good, but the sound occasionally quits for short (seconds) periods of time and then the sound returns.
