So the pricing is quite attractive but the risk is high. The Intellibed Midnight is quite different in build and feel than the Purple with its multiple layers of gel matrix along with layers of latex and Serene foam. Unless you're the gambling type and can afford the loss if it doesn't work out I'd have to pass and get a mattress with an option to return or exchange.

I have a intellibed midnight from mattress firm.. it is very comfortable and sleeps cool.. it's very heavy. Must be rotated on a schedule to maintain it's warranty. I'm a very big broad shoulder exclusive side sleeper. I ruin all mattresses very fast.. the purple 4 didn't last 1 years.. so far I'm at 1 year and 7 months and it's still got lots of life left.

Prescribing DIY is fine, but only an extremely small fraction of the public ever would undertake such a thing no matter how aggressively or energetically it is pushed -- that's just reality. We went for the Intellibed Midnight given our peculiarities (one temperature-neutral side sleeper, and one hot-sleeping, mostly back and occasional side slumberer -- which somehow served to exclude Tempurpedic) and remain hopeful. The seeming technology and sheer weight of this mattress suggest promise, but we are still trying to adapt to it in the first place.

Overall, we love the mattress and has helped me a lot with my back pains. It's weird to explain but it's both firm and soft while providing support. I sleep on my back and side, my husband sleeps on a combination of back, stomach, and side. Regardless of the position, we sleep comfortable and for neck support we use a Purple Harmony pillow.
