There's no fabric when you take that apart, and there's hooks that come out, so not ideal, but it'll work.

I have the kivik with 2 dogs. It is 4 years old and looks brand new when the covers are washed. The cushions are a bit firm at first but they are more comfortable now after breaking them in. I would highly recommend it for a household with animals!

I wanted to love these so bad as IKEA was soldout of kivik covers. They appear a nice quality however when you wipe with a rag and water, thry discolor where you wipe.

We have three pets and a toddler. One of our dogs likes to dig and burrow, so he has completely destroyed our current couches cushions. A few years ago, my husband and I were at an Ikea store and sat on a Kivik and fell in love. The fabric definitely feels like it will hold up better, and we like that you can replace just the covers just in case something happens with our dog.

IKEA is out of any decent color covers so we opted for this and while it is not the same material or craftsmanship, we are thoroughly pleased. Our old couch looks new again!

My vote still goes to the kivik out of all of the other ikea sofas however. Kivik is very easy to clean, you just throw it in the wash. Only downside is you can’t fully dry it in the dryer because it will shrink.
