Hoka One One Clifton 8 TEST & REVIEW | RunnerClick
Overall, I would recommend the Clifton 8 to new runners, or runners that are giving Hoka a try. These shoe hosts almost all of the coveted features from the Hoka brand, making it a functional, durable, and insanely comfortable ride.

it felt clunky, heavy and awkward, as if I was wearing bricks on my feet. It has the same horrible sharp arch that the Clifton 8 has, and they are also narrow, just like most hokas.
HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8 Performance Review » Believe in the Run
HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8 Conclusion. MEAGHAN: The Clifton 8 did not disappoint. HOKA kept all the great qualities of the previous iteration, but changed up the midsole composition (for the better)

CMV: Hoka is not doing enough to maintain their market share
I won’t disagree with you about them not releasing newer foams, but I’m a newer Hoka customer and their Clifton 8 has me hooked. Even though it’s just old EVA man that shoe just feels good!.
Wear Test & Review: Hoka Clifton 8 | Brooklyn Running Company
They were perfect for what I needed them for, to keep me going strong and steady on hilly and uneven terrain. Latoya says, “The HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8s are perfect for tempo and long runs. They’re cushioned and responsive enough to handle longer times on your feet — and I humbly say this a slower paced back of the pack runner

Start with the major brands daily trainer. Reebok float ride, brooks ghost, saucony ride, new balance 880, hoka Clifton, etc. the float ride, ride, and ghost would be where I’d start trying on.
HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8 Review - Running Northwest
Overall, the HOKA Clifton 8 stays true to the recipe, but we do worry a bit that the subtle tweak to the tongue padding might see a few folks gravitate to other models. It is still a great shoe as always though, incredibly dependable for almost every distance and for any type of run. The Clifton is a great throw-on-and-go shoe and it is always a pretty easy recommendation

First half-marathon shoe, suggestions please ?
You suggested the Clifton 8 - a good shoe, however I would opt for the Rincon 3 by Hoka. They're lighter but still heavenly cushioned. The Clifton 8 is somewhat controversial (fit, feel).
Hoka Clifton 8 Review (2022): Should You Get It?
In contrast, the E2 is relatively narrow. So we recommend the Hoka Clifton 8 if you’re not sure which shoe to choose.

Anyways about 6 months later I bought the Hoka Clifton 8 shoes and think they’re quite great but actually preferred the Speeds a bit more. More bouncy and responsive. Anyways I’m thinking of getting another pair of Saucony and read that the pro not only had the cushion of the speed but actually has a footplate as well so the bounce is amazing.
