It is excellent for car camping and weekend backcountry trips and a great size for children.
If we are getting down to the nitty-gritty, the metal hanging loop at the top really requires an additional carabiner hooked on to it to be truly functional. The power button is also in an odd location, and its small size makes it difficult to press. Even with those minor inconveniences, this model is an excellent option when you need a compact light that punches above its weight class.

 That's about 3 seconds too long. An hour later it's time to turn it off, so you press the button again. It doesn't turn off; it switches modes, and back to full brightness. To turn the light off you must always cycle through the remaining modes

 I will say, don't buy this light for your grandmother, or a young child, or anyone who doesn't have strong nimble fingers.

Button is hard to press and hard to find.

 For the price, this is a solid solution for camping lighting needs. It will not produce the same kind of powerful light that the GZ 400 lamp will, but to light up a small tent or table for eating, this does great. Over time, you will find the button very frustrating to use, and I suspect if you're like me you'll start looking for an alternative product that gives the same capability without the frustrations. Hopefully Goal Zero will redesign this device to get rid of these annoyances, in which case I'll happily buy a replacement rather than giving my money to their competition

 This was very frustrating and absolutely should be redesigned.  So in a nutshell, the cons I list are really annoyances but not deal breakers. For the price, this is a solid solution for camping lighting needs.  The light intensity of the LEDs are quite bright, and its capable of lighting a radius of 4 to 5 feet. The button to turn on/switch modes/dimmer is a little difficult to pressed at times and adjusting the LED intensity is also a little hard to gauge when you try to lower the LED intensity. The design feel very durable and the lantern/flashlight is not overpriced when compared to other flashlight of similar size. I would definitely recommend this lantern/flashlight for anyone who goes camping, performing simple automotive repair, working in tight spaces, or using it like a flash bang

 Using all 4 LEDs gives you 360 degrees of light. There are 4 little blue lights on top, indicating the level of battery remaining. A full charge with four LEDs in use on full brightness gives me 5-7 hours of light, depending on ambient temperature. Using 2 LEDs on full dim will give you hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of hours of use

I bought this because I was looking for a small, portable light to take hiking, and I wanted it to be USB rechargeable to refill from my BioLite thermoelectric stove/generator. I wanted something small but powerful that I could clip to the top of my hiking stick (to shine down) instead of carrying it in my other hand (to point). This means I needed a flashlight with a lantern function. The Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro easily met all these constraints, plus having the additional benefits of being dimmable (both to prevent blinding others and to preserve battery life)

The USB plug folds out; it's not on a cord and should be pretty sturdy, and it can be used at any position in the fold so the plug orientation doesn't matter as much. If I ever need to use it as a lantern without the hiking stick, the built-in hanging loop is sturdy and clicks down solidly so it doesn't get in the way of the flashlight function
