If you're shopping for a lantern on a budget, there's no better option than the BioLite SunLight. It can be charged via USB or with its integrated solar panel. The solar panel is larger than any other model in our review, and it has a built-in sundial to ensure that you're maximizing the sun's energy while charging. We were impressed with this lantern's brightness — both at the camping table and inside the tent. It's compact enough to slip into a pocket and lightweight enough that you won't even notice it's there on a backpacking trip. The light is dimmable and can be set to several different colors, and even has a "cycle mode" where it rotates through all of them. The SunLight has a 360-degree kickstand as well as a string hook, allowing you to hang it or prop it in various positions for lighting or charging. 
Although we didn't find much to complain about while testing the SunLight, we were a bit disappointed to discover that it doesn't have a USB output. It would be nice if it offered the ability to charge phones and other devices when it has extra juice. The BioLite has an IPX4 water resistance rating, meaning that it can be splashed with water from any direction without damaging the device. However, considering that some of the lanterns in our review have an IP67 rating and can be submerged in a meter of water for up to thirty minutes, we wish this model was a bit more weatherproof. Overall, considering the price,  brightness, and functionality of the BioLite SunLight, it's a deal.

Beyond The Tent

 I'll have a pack on me that weighs 60 pounds at least every single time. So being able to pack a lantern at three ounces versus if you've seen some of our other videos on like the Ozark Trail Walmart's lantern or even some of the nicer brands like Goal Zero a lot of these lanterns weigh in between one and two pounds and for me every pound counts. So if I can carry a lantern that's only three ounces I'm carrying a lantern that only weighs three ounces. You are not able to charge a device with this you can only charge this so you cannot count on this to charge up your phone or anything like that

 There we go I thought it had more colors so if you want to have a disco party out in the woods we're halfway there we just need to bring the glass ball and we're set. To be honest I'm not going to use flashing multiple color lights when I'm out camping that's a feature that just doesn't matter to me but it's cool nonetheless so there we have it the BioLite Sunlight 100.  Oh it is worth mentioning too before we move on it's an IPX4 water rating meaning it can be splashed on from any direction which in reality means it can sit out in the rain but it cannot be submerged in water. So let's go ahead and shut the lights off and see how this looks. All right this is on low now let's go ahead and go high to 100 lumens and at this 100 lumens you're gonna get I believe it was between three to four hours of battery life or on low you're gonna get about 50. We'll flip it over to green light a little bit easier on the eyes and blue light which is really nice if you wake up in the middle of the night

 It's 100 lumens on high and I believe it has like a three to four hour runtime on high but then if we set it to low it's a 50 hour runtime which I love that. I'm typically using my lanterns on low when I'm out camping. On the back we have a little solar panel and we can actually charge the lantern up in seven hours fully charged or if we use the USB port it's two hours. So what I like is that seven hour charge time during the day I can set it out at our campsite get it all charged up

. the power button doesn't respond very well when you're trying to adjust the brightness, which is annoying, but isn't that bad. I haven't had the light for long, so I don't know how long it lasts, but it went from green (60% - 100%) to yellow (30 - 60%) in about 35 minutes, so.

  Now, one more thing. The way the light shows its level of charge is by flashing twice after you turn it off (green 60 - 100%, yellow 30 - 60%, and red dead - 30%). In theory this is a cool way to show the state of charge, and in reality it mostly is.

The light arrived in good condition, in extreamly nice packaging (as always, with Biolite), had clear instructions, except for how to take the light out of demo mode (which you'd think would be included, apparently they think you don't need to know.. you have to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds), and shipped fast.  To start off with, I was expecting it to be brighter, even though I know how bright a 100 lumen light is
