I’m a huge Gibson fan. I am lucky enough to own a hummingbird and a Les Paul Standard. To me though, it’s about how it feels and plays and these two guitars were wonderful in my hands at the store. I have played Gibsons I don’t like too so it really depends on the guitar.

I have had Gibson and Seagulls in the past but that has been my favorite guitar, electrics included. Pretty sure it’s discontinued, but Yamaha, in my opinion, makes the most price efficient guitars I’ve seen. I had an opportunity to buy a Gibson Hummingbird from a friend for waaaaaay below its value, and honestly, I said no because I just liked mine more. I’ve had it for 10 years and I really don’t plan on buying another acoustic until this one gives out.

I have played a couple of hummingbirds and I think you pay a very large premium for the fact that it's a hummingbird (don't get me wrong they look absolutely incredible). I would definitely take a look at Taylor's anything 300 series or higher and possibly some Martins too. A Gibson Hummingbird is an expensive guitar and pretty much anything around that price *should* sound incredible and be easy to play.

Yes. The sound of the Gibson hummingbird is a thing to be admired.

I am speaking of acoustic guitars here and do not have an opinion on the Gibson SG other than my favorite musician, Frank Zappa, played one.

Got it to have an acoustic ready, not too shabby compared to a "real" Gibson Hummingbird. Need to replace the (plastic) bridge though, as it got a slight crack which affects some tones on the D and G strings, creating unwanted resonance.
