Or a traditional layout that can sit horizontally like the Node 304, which would actually be better for cooling as the GPU side would no longer be at the bottom that would obstruct airflow. Obviously such a config would take up more surface area on a desk, but I'd definitely take a cool and quiet cookie box over a literal toaster oven any day. One can still choose to sit the case upright if one wishes, of course, but these are such simple options to implement.

Node 304 or josnsbo N1 are pretty good itx server cases. Node is bigger 6 drives but has better cooling capacity. Jonsbo has had some reports of drive cooling issues when filled.

The stock fans of the Fractal Design Node 304 are more than sufficient. I ran them in an older server I had seven years ago and are still going strong now that it's been converted to an HTPC. I have a new 304 for a Windows based server now, and fands are fine. ($41 saved).
