I understand the concept of buy once cry once, just ensure you love espresso enough and have the budget so you won’t regret it. Also you need to have realistic expectations for what the machine can offer and or how it fulfills your wants and needs. My timeline was Nespresso -> Breville Barista Pro -> ECM Synchronika. Had to make sure this was something I was passionate about before the investment was made.

I was mad I wasted a decade on a Silvia. The quality of the coffee coming out of the ECM Synchronika is on another level.

I went with the ECM Synchronika with flow control and am very happy with it...nearing the 2yr mark with it now. We make 2-3 milk-based drinks daily, occasionally 6-8 with guests, and wanted a workhorse that would last many years and could easily be repaired by ourselves or a shop. The levers are easier than knobs in my opinion. I like that it can be plumbed in if desired.

With that budget, these would be my top picks for myself, in order of preference:. * ECM Synchronika with Flow Control ($3199). * Profitec Pro 700 + ($2699) + Lucca58 Wood Panels ($325).

Here's my take...If you have the budget, the ECM Synchronika (or Profitec Pro 700) will serve you well for quite a long time. I consider my Pro 700 my end game machine after 20 years of espresso at home. One of the key deciding factors was getting a machine thats plumbable. Having a plumbed in machine is a game changer (and they pull alot of water).

Just last week I went through the same research that you're doing and ultimately settled on the ECM Synchronika. ECM and Profitec are sister companies and have the same (ridiculously high) build quality, but I liked the look of the Synch a bit more and I prefer the flip knobs for steam/water over the dial valves. Beyond the higher build quality and flip knobs, Lelit's price has also gone up with the v3 (it's now the same as the 700 with flow control and closer to the Synch with flow control), the v3 isn't in-stock (in the US) yet, and could be sold out for a while early on. You could get a v2 (my research indicated that the upgrades for the v3 may not necessarily be worth the price increase), which is cheaper and potentially more available, but the big retailers (e.g.

ECM Synchronika is a solid choice.

I chose the Bezzera Duo MN: It’s hundreds less, performs just as well, includes the wood trim, and I love the touchscreen panel. You should give it a look.

My ECM Synchronika with flow control has everything I need from performance/features to durability/repairability. We bought it 2 years ago intending for it to be an end game machine and I see no reason to upgrade from there down the road.
