I gave my daughter (8 yo) a convoy s2+ with SST20 2700k led just for this purpose.

We have a set of 18650s that we charge only with solar. She uses these for her reading light.

This thing is soooo dang bright it will temporarily blind you when/if you look straight at it [human tested]. I actually love this flashlight so much and Ive owned hundreds. I put my Sony VC6 18650 in there n it drains pretty slow even on the high setting, although you only get 7 min on "turbo" then...

I work in Dubai every couple of months and bought from Neal (yes really) a Convoy S2+ with 219b emitter to see what it’s like. It was delivered today. For $13.56 absolutely no complaints. It’s warmer than I expected but since all my other flashlights are at home in France.

Same 1mm² surface area as an Osram W1, but in a neutral 5,000K color temp. As far as I know, these emitters can only be purchased through Cutter Electronics in Australia.

I gave my 2 year old daughter a Convoy s2+ with the sst-20 4000k emitter and 3x7135. I set it to mode group 8, and turned mode memory off, so it always comes on in low mode, and the max brightness is capped at 50%. on the lowest mode, it lasts for weeks before the battery goes dead. My daughter loves hers, it's basically the perfect light for a toddler in my opinion.

If you could settle for about 40k candela you could get a Convoy S2+ with the Osram CSLNM1 emitter. It is very easy on the pocket in 18350 form and will only set you back about $22 with the battery.
