**Conclusion:**. At the end of the day, I’d rather have the option of the wider usable hot spot of the 4x18a, or the easier to carry L21a if I want a pencil beam. Even more so because the two Convoys combined cost about the same as the wt90 for me.

This flashlight was made for hunting and mounting to a rifle. Simon said it is basically a lightweight and a little smaller version of L21A. It's appearance is smooth for better mounting in the holder on the gun.

The host is really nice and the quality is a step above the lights I've previously owned (mostly Sofirns). Sofirn's lights aren't badly made, but compared to them, the Convoy doesn't have any sharp machined edges and the anodizing somehow feels nicer. The knurling on the battery tube also feels really nice. The L21B feels exactly the right weight for a host of this size; I can't imagine how awfully hefty a L21A would be.

Obligatory [Parametrek Convoy L21B, L21A and Sofirn SF47T seem to be the best options.

This Convoy L21A should do more than what you want, and still meet your budget. You’ll have to buy a charger, too.

I came super close to just going all-in and getting a Convoy L21A as a poor-man's K1, but I honestly would never use it aside from walking out on the porch and shining it for a minute or two. A flashlight that won't fit in a pants or jacket pocket is useless to me.

It's like a maglite that has been taken all the way to the max. The Osram options are great, but I feel those are more for enthusiasts who want to maximize throw. Also, if you want to maybe get a thrower and a SP35, plus batteries and charger, then the Convoy L21A or L21B might let you stay closer to a decent budget.

If you just want to buy an assembled one for a really good price, [the is available at Mohr Lumens for just over $50. I bought a couple of these to give as gifts and they're *awesome*.

It's good to know that the L21A manages heat well. This is what kind of puts me off of the D4V2 and DT8... they heat up way fast.
