Brother MFC-L8900CDW

The local Staples has both the Brother MFC-L8900CDW and HP M479fdw all-in-one printers in stock. I want something that is going to be very reliable and long lasting while also having good print and scan quality.

January 2019 Update: Genuine Brother toner cartridges are only warranted for 90 days. If one fails outside that period, Brother provides no recourse other than to replace the toner cartridge, regardless of toner left in cartridge. The printer has begun spilling blue toner across pages. A call to Bro...

But the color image quality does seem to be notably better than the MFC-L3770CDW. If there's a worthwhile step in color print quality, I'll do the MFC-L8900CDW, otherwise if it's not then I'll go with the cheaper model. I don't mind spending what the Canon costs, but I'd rather go with the Brother MFC-L8900CDW for the driver support/etc.

You might still be able to duplex on 200 gsm paper, though. - The Brother MFC-L8900CDW **cannot** print on this cardstock. It is limited to 163 gsm (60 lb cover) simplex and 105 gsm (28 lb bond) duplex. - The Xerox VersaLink C405 (the printer I have at home) can print single-sided on 220 gsm (80 lb cover) through the bypass tray, but tops out at 163 gsm for duplex.

I had a Brother copy, fax, scan before purchasing this one. The other still worked fine after more than 6 years, the Laser Unit and Fuser Unit needed to be replaced was all, but the cost to replace those products was almost as much as just purchasing a new machine.
