Cheap Cartridge SHOOTOUT!

A very pleasant and listenable cartridge, but can hum on a DD turntable. Cost - $99CDN (sale). Last up was the Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN, the only cartridge with a nude elliptical diamond.

Not Terrible, But Not Great Either.....

This AT cartridge is not a really bad cartridge, but it compares unfavorably with the Nagaoka MP-110 I also just bought, and with which I did a side-by-side comparison using identical headshells, with VTF for the MP-110 at 1.8g, and at 2.0g for the Audio Technica, in both instances within the ranges...

Good shootout of some inexpensive cartridges

My parents got me a fluance rt81 for christmas, first manual table but thoughts on grado black3? Thinking of getting that or the ortofon 2m red for my first upgrade for the cartridge

Personally, I'd recommend taking that $20 an putting an AT-VM95EN (elliptical nude) on the RT-81. The "nude" diamond (not bonded to a metal post) will allow for better high-frequency tracking and less inner groove distortion.

Great cardtridge for the price, nothing magic though

Great cartridge for the price. Detailed, neutral. Complete black background, clean sounding. No sibilances, and still detailed. Bass is there, tidy bass, not a DJ cartridge though, no messy big bass. Sound also not the most opened ever, not the most holographic ever. But then again, this is a 100€ M...

Best cartridge for around £100?

The 2M Red is not universally liked.

Other options should include Audio Technica AT-VM95EN, Nagaoka MP-110 or Ortofon OM10/20.

what is the best stylist for punk music?

That's a thing you can do with moving coil cartridges in the $500-1000+ range, where pretty much all your choices are excellent trackers, and you might favor something with a tiny bit more dynamics/bass slam for some genres or something with a tiny bit more transparency and detail for other genres. But under $100 you can't choose on those terms—you just need to be concerned with getting the best tracking you can for that limited budget. Can you afford $120? If so, get the Audio-Technica VM95EN.

This one is better than the VM95E

So if your thinking of going with the cheaper VM95E - Dont - Spend a little more and get this one VM95EN.... As its alot better... And also dont go a step up from this one , as the VM95ML wont be better and you will not here a difference... and is waist of money..
