Audio-Technica AT95E

Audio-Technica calls it the finest entry-level phono cartridge ever produced. And actually, they might be right.

That’s a GREAT starter turntable (hell, that’s a great turntable overall). A friend has one just like it, and it runs like a top. Could be wrong here, but the cartridge (the thing at the end of the tonearm where the needle goes on) looks like the venerable Audio Technica AT95E-commonly included on turntables that cost upwards of $500. Great sounding cartridge, and it’s the cartridge and stylus that actually determine how good a turntable sounds.

That's an Sl-B2. Order a new belt for it too. I have the same model, I put an At95e cartridge on it. It works and sound great.

With the at95e I was never able to completely remove some limited amounts of sibilance on certain albums. The CF95SE seems to correct that. Here is a quick clip from Genesis (Phil Collins provides ample opportunity for sibilance!) That highlights how well the CF95SE handles the upper end on a not particularly clean record:.

There's nothing wrong with the Audio Technica but it's not the quality of the Technics. That Technics is 30+ years old... guarantee the Audio Technica won't be around in 30 years.

This is a good cartridge. Probably one of the most widely used cartridges in it's price range. I have two turntable setups. hich means you have the pick of the litter as far as cartridge goes. It's try starting out with something like an at95e maybe since those van be had for peu cheap. Would help if you had more pics of the headshell, maybe you can find a cheap replacement stylus which corks ends up being cheaper than the whole cartridge, that's of the cartridge is worth it and working.
