 A lot of the testers that we've had on it over the past couple of years have really specifically noted at how stable and how powerful it can feel, and I give a lot of credit to the camber shape. We don't have any metal in here, we don't have any crazy materials, but it's actually quite a stiff flex, and I think the thickness of that wood core, that ultra-power wood core, and the fact that it's bent in a pretty significant cambered shape, that's where you really get that stability. And that's where that stability is coming from. Now you also get some nice maneuverability, too

 If you're using this as a touring ski, if you're putting an atomic shift on here, it's going to be great. It's efficient for the uphill, which is really important. You don't want to tire yourself out there in the backcountry. Now downhill performance, this thing might surprise you because even though it's this lightweight, it's actually got some pretty darn good stability to it, too

 I think you could have a lot of fun on it in the resort, too. But the reason why it's in the touring collection is because it's exceptionally lightweight. So this is a 189 in my hand, and it is just fantastically light, extremely lightweight. And basically the build of this ski is pretty straightforward

 Low, low, low, pretty long in the tail, again below the taper point, which is about here. So that rocker starts about there. Minimal splay gives this ski a pretty strong tail, nice smooth total edge control from the start of the turn to the end. So that's one of the big bonus points of this ski here, is that it is pretty business-like in the tail

 This ski is unchanged for this year except for graphics. Just a really well-rounded, wider-bodied, all-mountain, slash freestyle, slash back country ski. This thing has a lot of capabilities to it. Starts with the Powerwood Core, which is light but pretty strong

One day conditions were just too good, so I immediately switched over to my Atomic Backland 107s and could tell a huge difference in weight, response and flotation. I’ve been eyeballing the Bents for a while now, but have never skied them. I like the Enforcer line, but don’t love the 104s because of how heavy they are.

Thanks everyone in advance for insight. I'm an intermediate to advanced skier, usually get 5-10 days a year with most days out west, comfortable on double blacks to orange, looking to finally buy after years of demos. I've narrowed it down to the Bent Chetler 100s in 188cm and Enforcer 104s in 191cm; for context, I'm 6'3", 215lbs. 

Previously I've owned some random Volkl freestyle ski (bought secondhand in high school, used for 8 years) which I enjoyed for tree skiing and moguls. I've been demoing Nordica 94s which I enjoyed but found a bit heavy to swing around in glades, and Volkl Mantra 5s which were not very responsive relative to the Nordicas. Spend most of my time off-piste looking for good glades and bowls. A bit of a speed demon but willing to sacrifice some speed for maneuverability in moguls. 

Thoughts? Leaning towards the Bent Chetlers but I can be convinced.

<p>UPDATE: Thanks again for input. Went with the 104s at 191cm with Salomon Warden 13 bindings. Should keep me moving and give me enough maneuverability.... although I&#39;ll miss out on the BC graphics.</p>

Yet another ski-off... Atomic Bent Chetler 100 vs. Nordica Enforcer 104

 That's way, way more of a twin tip where this is truly a directional ski. But we do get some nice long tail rocker as well, at least relatively long for a directional ski. And I always really like the taper design to these skis as well. So you can kind of see, especially in the tail here, it's in the tip as well

 It is pretty darn light even with this shift binding on it in a 189 length. I'm kind of curious what this is going to come out to. Yeah just 2,600 grams. So pretty darn light for a big ski with a relatively strong touring binding on it in the shift

 The first time I skied it I was just blown away by how strong it felt. It doesn't maybe have the vibration damping of some heavy skis. Like if you were to line this up straight next to a Maverick, Mavericks are going to feel a little smoother and damper so to speak. But definitely a strong stable ski

 So great choice for anybody that's going to be heading out into the backcountry this season and needs the width for softer snow conditions. Lucky you because that's like the best part of skiing, getting to go touring and getting some fresh powder. So if that's kind of what you have in mind this season, if that's what you have in store, awesome for you and this is a perfect, perfect tool for the job. So check this thing out on SkiEssentials

Atomic Backlands 107 (175) vs Black Crowes Corvus Freebird 183

The Backland 107 has a robust build in an ~1650g ski (182cm) and features a full sidewall for better durability and a stable ride.

Sure, the lighter setup may have matched the soft, deep pillowy snow conditions in some spots. With my timidity that day, which could have resulted in a ligament-tearing tumble, I pivoted to wanting decidedly heavier gear with more oomph to match less-than-perfect conditions.

 I could do better going from edge to edge in a skinnier ski with less rocker up front.

 Jason survived the transition from free-heel kool-aid drinker to faster and lighter (think AT), and safer, are better.
