But now would I recommend this microphone? I'm actually kind of leaning towards not really.

Right now, I’m going AKG C214 > Scarlet Solo (1st gen, feels obvious that this is the first upgrade, I need balanced L/R not the crappy RCA looking outputs) > Logic Pro X > Eris E5 monitors (also an older generation, not sure which but I bought them in 2015 and they are obviously different, at least appearance-wise, than the same model is new). I’m not much of a producer so I don’t have a midi sequencer or anything at this point, I just buy beats or work out collabs with others, but I do like to mess around with beats for a creative spark. I get good quality recording, so I don’t know that I need to upgrade from the C214, though I have been thinking about grabbing a ribbon mic just to try it out.

Everyone who has a C214 wishes they have a C414, they're not even competitors. It's an okay mic but less than half the price of the C414 and nowhere near the clarity.

I had expected this to be a good "room mic" but instead I find I need to be within 2 to 4 feet depending on sound volume to get any pickup. This is absolutely classic and if you are going to record a symphony or an opera you should really check this recording technique out and use other microphones. I created a decca tree once with AKG C214's and it sounded amazing!!. For recording a vocal + piano I would check for 2 to 4 great condensor microphones. Dynamic microphone will not give you that thick and transparent sound on sources like a vocal and piano for this genre.
