 This grill is quite heavy and having a handle on both ends makes it easy to maneuver and handle. 2) The steel drip tray needs a better design to guide the grease drippings directly into the external spout that the drip bucket hangs on. The steel drip tray on this Pro Series 575 deposits grease falling into a channel from front to back inside the grill with very little of the drippings going into the spout exiting the grill that the drip bucket hangs on. This creates high maintenance mess inside the grill making it harder to clean

Bought a Traeger Pro 575 in April. Loved it. Made a ton of good chow. Recommended to friends and family

Enraged from Broken Traeger after only 4 months

I have had a PRO 575 for 4 months now and the thing can’t hold a temp below 200. When set there it will run 40-50 degrees over and really doesn’t seem to be able to stay at or below 200. I’ve already replaced the thermocouple and controller and that hasn’t fixed anything. Traeger support said it’s a software issue, but they have no timeline for when it will get fixed

Considering the premium you’ll have to pay anyways getting it imported, I think the Timberline is a good value. Traegers are great easy to use grills, so you’re on the right track there. 

I should preface this by saying I'm based in the UK. I, of course, love smoked BBQ. It's not a very popular thing here in the UK, so I would like to convert friends and family. I host a monthly poker game with a few friends, normally comprising of about 9-12 players which need feeding so I thought the Timberline 1300 was a good size for that...

The choices here are very limited - I don't like that I'd be spending £2500 on a smoker, stings a little more knowing it's only $1999 in North America.... but at the same time, if it's great value for the money and it's able to last me 10 years then I'd be ok with it. This would be my one and only smoker.

I guess what I'm really after is confirmation bias... or for someone to say there's better smokers for less money...

Traeger Timberline 1300 for first smoker?

Update: I was partially incorrect. The controller temp is typically 25-40 degrees cooler than what the ambient temperature actually reads (I purchased a third party probe). So as long as you increase the temp by that amount to make up for it, it does maintain that temp really well. I updated my review to four starts

 Traeger shipped me a new controller and it made no difference.  The thermocoupler (heat probe) location is the worst location you can put it. You'll have a hard time not banging into it when putting the bottom grill grate in and out.  The hopper clean out should have at least been on the side of the box, not on the back

  RESEARCH AND GOOGLE TRAEGER PRO 575 BEFORE BUYING  This grill cannot maintain low temperatures. You want to use this thing for "low and slow" cooks. When you set it to low temps (below 300 in my experience), it rockets to temperatures much higher than you set the controller to. See pic

Would it be with stretching the budget for a. Ironwood series with the downdraft, or can better be achieved with a less expensive grill and smoke tube?

 In general, the inconveniences have been small, almost non-existent with the app just once in a while. I wasn't happy with the upgrade, but they took care of it. So if you're looking for quality grill that is easy to use, it gives great results, is deadly accurate, then I can recommend the Trigger Timberline 850. I've loved the time I've had with it

 Because it burns less pellets, it creates less ash, and it's a cleaner smoke when you're preparing your food. I really enjoy that. Another thing I like about it is, despite it's small footprint with the three racks it has in it, I can actually put more food in this smoker than I could in my larger one that I had before it. It will let you cook a lot of food with that three rack setup

 So if you're looking for quality grill that is easy to use, it gives great results, is deadly accurate, then I can recommend the Trigger Timberline 850. I've loved the time I've had with it. So if you get this smoker, I can tell you something, you'll love cooking it because you'll know that you can make it. I have a good woman, I ain't good looking, but I do some cooking

 I don't think they sear it enough. But just to test it out, I did some cooks with steaks and burgers right down on the low, firing it up to high temperatures and throwing them in. Now it doesn't give you the dark black sear, but it does give you enough of my artifact to give good flavor, and they were amongst the juiciest steaks and burgers I ever had. So much to my surprise, this makes a really great steak or burger all by itself

Traeger Timberline Four Month Review

I use these just to catch the trip from my grill, Paul Wall style. They work but are flimsy and bend easily, the do keep my small bucket clean so that’s good. I would like to find a cheaper option as for you toss this after so many uses. It gets the job done but still searching for other options

Better than nothing

 I regularly take it up to 450-500 (every time I make wings) and while I haven’t had any grease fires (clean your grill regularly guys!) it does take *forever* to get there, and once it does it still doesn’t do a great job searing. Getting a crisp on wings is pretty much the only time I get it that hot, because if I have something that I actually want to sear I’ll do something else.

Debating on selling Large BGE and Napoleon gasser to buy Timberline 850. I cook mainly chicken breasts, burgers, steak, and occasionally smoke meat. 

- How long does the Timberline 850 take to heat to 450-500?
- Max heat?
- Smoke flavor for chicken? BGE is too Smokey, IMO

Timberline 850 (gen 1)

 I'm in a northern climate, so I was looking at the Timberline series for its heat retention in the winter and also for its features. Got to the store, looked at the Yoders (really nice, but not going to hold heat as well and a bit expensive), the Timberline 850 and 1300 (looked great)..
