For just a one bedroom apartment, if go with the TP-Link ER605 as your router and then a TP-Link EAP225 for your access point. This will easily fit in your budget, give you rock-solid performance, and is no problem to upgrade or expand if you move.

So, due to Ubiquiti's lack of a suitable offering in the range I'm willing to spend, I buy the ER-4. Overall, this thing is great - I've never used an EdgeMAX product, but I setup UNMS and I'm happy with it. Overall, it just works - a great device. Setup was a breeze

I WFH full time now and Comcast has cost me several days work so I got a 5G backup and needed a way to connect both of them. This has done a great job, wasn't hard to set up, and has a bunch of features that I'm not using if I want to geek out later.

I'm using a Ubiquiti Edge Router X w/ Smart QoS and it's a plug 'n play solution if you don't want to deal with a more of a technical fix.

The result? Well my top speed capped out at just over 600MBs down and 830MBs up. Now I do believe that is due to some other configurations that I have in place. The Omada app, is a joke. The limitations of the Omada app compared to the web interface is a night and day difference, and not in a good way

The "wizards" don't reflect current configuration, and they all have the same UI (and silently ignore things they don't want to pay attention to, so you'll think you've set things up when you, in fact, haven't). Also, the wizards do only very minimal setup---you have to drop down into the utterly non-intuitive CLI to do anything useful. The router is lightning fast, though. This router has performed well with occasional glitches: timeouts on IP assignments through my AP (also Tp-link), fairly regular IP assigned with wireless that work fine locally, but report (correctly) they can't reach the internet where no issue is apparent in logs of this router or the AP. Customer service is responsive, but resolution of the failed DHCP issue required turning all optimization parameters off, while only using one, but improved. Biggest concern is hardware change and TP-link has done this before: V2 has substantially better hardware specs but the only way to know is manual comparison of data sheets. Since IPV6 support was promised, then apparently had a soft rollout, customers and customer support had to ask to find out, while some newer versions were offered and old version received
