Ubiquiti is just bad.

I "tried" a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4 (meaning I bought it and returned it) TWICE, and I prefer *BSD-based routers (meaning pfSense, OPNsense, or just raw FreeBSD). Some part of it was IPv6 DNS/RA issues. Another part was the fact that I just love FreeBSD *too much* and *have* to run it on all my personal systems.

Router advice with support for 3 failover connections

Grab a Ubiquiti Edgerouter or a Mikrotik hEX. Any of the ports on them can be assigned as WAN or LAN and you can failover or load balance until your heart's content.

Then just configure the Synology router in AP mode to handle the wireless.

Ubiquiti is just bad.

I totally agree that Ubiquiti firmware Is completely subpar and I use to recommend Edgerouters and at this point stopped. Hope OPENWRT gets ported to Edgerouter 4 since I find it more reliable than EdgeOS 2.x.x which was a bloody mess. At least, I never recommend Any Unifi APs since I've tested it and did not like them when compared to Ruckus APs. Even used Ruckus APs are lightyears better than new Unifi APs.
