TP-Link EAP235-Wall vs Ubiquiti AmpliFi HD

Pay CLOSE attention to this unit, how it works, and what it does before you buy it!! 1) Omada interface / controller - as normal, great concept but total trash to implement. I de-registered the software, wiped the initial setup and started over rather than trying to mess with it (its only good for multipoint administration from a central location IMHO) - IE: I did the stand alone fallback mode through a web interface and fixed the problem (much simpler setup) 2) NOT a true "wireless mesh" unit. Only some (mostly omada) wireless networks will work with this thing. My "netgear" router and this unit would not work together for a wireless AP setup

The good: - super stable, I haven't had the devices crash in the month I've had it (unlike the tplink it replaced, which crashed daily) - nice, if simple, ui, if you don't mind doing all config via a mobile app. - great coverage: Amplifi + 2 mesh extenders more than well covers more than an acre sized lot + buildings - ipv6 that "just works" The bad: - Config is buggy: I naively set my 2.4ghz channel to 40mhz bandwidth which killed the wifi (bad idea in a heavily congested area). fixing it it in the config software didn't actually reset the bandwidth to 20mhz, only a hard reset did

I just did a tp-link er605 + tl-sg2210MP + eap620hd + eap225 outdoor + eap235-wall + OC200 setup and it was super simple and the performance is great. I have never used ubiquiti but they are more expensive. Make sure the feature set of the equipment meets what you truly need.

And secondly, put it in the outlet nearest the device you need connected. The speed test is noticeably different even in outlets in the same room.

The ReoLink cameras support 5G and 2.4G WiFi (not simultaneously), but yet again, the signal continues to disappoint. This is still a pretty cool product, and it has applications (especially related to affordable outdoor mesh), but it certainly didn't accomplish what I was hoping it would.

I am sharing these details about my home so that you can relate to the location and access point signal quality comments below. I downloaded the iOS Mobile App and followed the instructions for installation.
