My router does not advertise MU-MIMO actually. I feel like it's got to do with the router, as the US version of the same router does advertise MU-MIMO and OFDMA together while this one does not. So am I getting the expected speeds, or have I been scammed by TP-Link?

My laptop is the only 5GHz device connected to the router. The maximum speed I get on 5GHz is around 300-400Mb/s when transferring files to a Windows file share and when I try to download from the internet at the same time it halves the speed.

 Also, do not enable “QoS”. I have both networks set to wpa3 encryption. These settings now allow me to routinely get speeds of 230+mbps on my 200mbps service from Comcast.

 Cat5 won’t carry more that 100mbps.  Both my main network and the guest have 2.4 and 5ghz enabled. Do not enable “Smart Connect” it doesn’t work

 After a couple of days, my speeds dropped dramatically. It was after I had fine tuned my settings. Something had affected my speeds. I called tech support which was a waste of time

The idea of investing in an affordable Wi-Fi 6 router made me incredibly excited. I’ve wanted to upgrade my home’s router for a while, and it seemed like a no-brainer to try out Wi-Fi 6 speeds and see what all the hype was about.

My house is about 2,100 square feet, spread across two floors. Like I mentioned before, I haven’t run into many issues with my current router, but typically routers provided by your ISP aren’t going to be top-tier. The biggest gripe I had with my ISP router was slower speeds while upstairs and the occasional glitchy or laggy moment while playing video games.

The TP-Link Archer AX50 router certainly delivered higher download speeds upstairs and an overall more reliable connection while streaming media or playing video games. If you’re looking for a Wi-Fi 6 router that can deliver fast, reliable speeds throughout your home and you don’t want to spend a lot of money; this router is a great option.

I went to the Amazon/Australia site and there are several AC1200 routers from major brands like TP-Link & Tenda (as well as some I've never heard of that I would avoid) for $70-$130 if cost is sensitive for you right now.  I personally think TP-Link routers offer the best bang for the buck - they're reliable, perform well, are competitively priced vs. the competition, and have current security protocols in place.  It's also a very established brand

What is a good WiFi router, and does it make a difference?

I have had this quite a few weeks now, I have had it go offline quite a few times. It has had a firmware release at least once and I have updated it. It seems like a double webpage request back to back can crash something in it sometimes. My initial setup: I had picked this up to only run three devices it on it, my phone, quest 2 (wireless side) and my pc hardwired

 Issue 2: Multiple times this router was not able to connect/check for updates. It was not able to connect to update its firmware. Firmware had to be downloaded manually and then updated locally.  My setup now: I turned this device off from being a gateway to just a part of my existing network as a wireless device

 Rebooting the router works to resolve this issue. This problem happened about once a week where it would go offline and be unable to recover without a reboot. Issue 2: Multiple times this router was not able to connect/check for updates. It was not able to connect to update its firmware

Decent Router Problems with going offline

I wish it was 60 dollars new. An old Ubiquiti AC access point has more range than this thing. Wish it had a repeater mode like the wifi 4 models

All of that makes this router an outstanding value and a better budget pick than the budget-priced Wi-Fi 6 routers I tested last year, including the Linksys MR7350 and TP-Link's own Archer AX10. I've seen the AX21 on sale for as low as $80, but even at $100, it's a very worthy purchase, and an easy recommendation for anyone who's ready to try out Wi-Fi 6 at home.

Wi-Fi 6 devices can send data back and forth at top speeds that are about 30% faster than what Wi-Fi 5 is capable of, with better, more efficient performance, particularly in dense environments where lots of devices need to connect. A growing number of devices support the standard, including most of the phones and laptops released over the last year or two, but you'll need a Wi-Fi 6 router in order to take advantage of those faster speeds at home.

In this case, the AX21 is a dual-band router with a 2.4GHz band claiming top speeds of up to 574Mbps and a 5GHz band with a top transfer rate of 1,201Mbps. The caveat there is that you can only connect to one band at a time, so when TP-Link says that the router offers speeds of up to 1.8Gbps, what it really means is 1

Like with most TP-Link routers, you'll control the AX21 via TP-Link's Tether app on your Android or iOS device. Doing so is a bit simpler (and for networking novices, less intimidating) than logging in via the router's IP address in a web browser, and it makes for a simple setup. Specifically, after plugging the router in and turning it on, you'll open the app, connect to the router's network, then pick out a network name and password. That's essentially it

4 GHz, the 5 GHz 1, 5 GHz 2, now again, the 2.4 is a lot slower, but the range is a lot further than the 5 GHz, now again, the 5 GHz is quicker, you can Google all this stuff up and look for some more information, but it's pretty cool, you got all three networks available here and there's a lot of different things you could do, you could check out the devices you have connected, status, parental control and so forth, so again, something you guys could play around with, but that's basically the gist of it when it comes to setting up, so we're going to do the speed test now and see the difference in regards to speed compared to the older router that I have with the speed test, so let's get started with that. Alright guys, so here's the actual test, this is the Files G1100 router, now I was basically getting on a daily basis about 40ish up and then about 20 something down, for some reason today I got it even worse, again, it could be the router, it could be where I am, again, depending on your location, service might be better than other places, but yeah, even at 40, even at its max 40, 50, it wasn't cutting it, I did call Verizon, I did ask them because again, it's advertised, it's supposed to get at least 300, but I know a lot of people, but not getting what it's advertised, I mean, if you're getting 300 and you're paying for 300, then you're really one of the few, but leave a comment down there and let me know if you guys are basically getting it, maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know, I mean I tried everything, I contacted the customer service, I had a tech come over, I was going to get a new router, but then they had this special for the gigabit, so I decided to go just because again, the extender did do that over the top, plus I didn't have to pay any money for those devices, so I rather just do that instead of getting an extender with my slow service, so as you could see, I got 10 and I got 14 on this particular day, which is just ridiculously slow, and you know, even at its best, I never got more than 40-ish if I was lucky, now that's where the actual, as you could see, there is the old router, it's plugged in, it has the power cord, so again, it wasn't doing, especially since we were streaming, doing so many other things, so it wasn't doing its job, now what we're going to do is the test for the G3100 router, which is the gigabit, now as you could see, I done a couple of tests, I reached up to, at best, I would say about 600, close to 600, I would say, I mean 592 or something, literally 600 if you round it up, so on average, I am getting about 4 in change, and on the other side, I'm getting about 180 depending on it, so again, it is what it is, definitely not getting gigabit speed, I am definitely going to call Verizon and see if they could maybe boost it up, maybe, I don't know, check it out as well, but I am happy with the service as is now, now yes, it looks like I'm basically paying for extra money for the speed that I should have been getting with the 300 megabits per second, however, again, from my own experience, I never got that speed, I think that's fastest ever gotten, the old router was, I think the best was 80, alright guys, like, comment, subscribe guys, like, comment, subscribe, if you like this video, definitely check out this, leave us a thumbs up guys, leave us a thumbs up, also, if you are thinking about getting gigabit, check the link below, and we have a referral, that would definitely help us in regards to supporting this channel, appreciate it, if you got any questions, like always leave it down there and let us know, maybe we could try to help you and see what we all could do as a community and, you know, help each other out, alright guys, thanks for watching this video, thanks for watching Gadgets123 and I'll see you guys on the next video, take care guys.
