 Trying to get the cap off one of the latches on the side broke off on the rack side. Fortunately it was a top cap so the cap still covers but is not secured. I was needing to get multiple bikes out of the way in our garage. These SteadyRack's caught my attention because once the bikes are hanging up, you can angle them left or right. The fact that they can pivot on the mount allowed even more room. My only issue with them is the cost

 My need to get the project completed, didn't allow me much time to look around for similar options or to compare prices with other racks. These appeared to meet my needs and could get here in the time frame I needed them, so I purchased three. (The different cap colors in the pictures were purchased separately on their website.) I have a two-car garage just large enough for two cars. The bikes had to be stored in something the girls could operate and made room for the cars. Ceiling racks were out because they're too high. Even conventional wall racks are hard to hoist a bike into and they can take entire walls to accommodate a family of bikes

 The steady rack solved both problems: it is easy to mount a bike and it stores them in a compressed configuration, allowing plenty of room for opening car doors while in the garage. I was very happy to discover the racks were well built and mounted to the wall easily and permanently. These are well engineered. A solid solution

 Measure twice, drill once! The only other note, was that in my haste - and without giving it much thought - I used the wrong fastener to hang the first rack. The racks come with both lag bolts & truss-head wood screws, which I dumped out on the workbench, and by the time went to hang the first rack, my son handed me the screw and it stripped going in - quite easily. Oops! I should have known better - so I'm mentioning it for those who do not know better. The rack should be installed with the "hex" headed lag bolt

 Steadyrack does not disappoint. This product is all that is cracked up to be and in my opinion, worth the money.  I bought a four-pack for my family, and an additional fender-style for my retro bike. The area where all bikes are hanging is 71" wide

 I looked at several systems and read reviews (noted that children had difficulty hooking bike tires, between spokes & balancing, etc), ultimately deciding to spend way more than I had planned on the Steadyrack. It was a slam-dunk. Steadyrack does not disappoint. This product is all that is cracked up to be and in my opinion, worth the money

Worth every penny

 Oh! One last note on installation: As you can see, we've installed our racks into concrete block. Drilling for and installing anchors into masonry is never easy, but since the rack is made in Australia you should be prepared to either suffer through the arduous task of hand-tightening bolts with an adjustable wrench (as I did) or get some metric-sized bolt drivers.

While planning for a garage renovation that took our house from a 1-car garage to a 2-car garage, we wanted to ensure we would be able to store our family's bikes in an efficient manner, but also make it easier for everybody to retrieve them when they wanted to take a ride. The renovation is almost at an end, and you can see the results..

The Trek FX 3 Disk is the better deal if it's available around you in your size, it's sold out around here anyway (Chicago). If I had to shop at REI right now, I'd be spending a little more on the drop bar or eBikes.

Hi all! I (6ft 180lb male) have a fitness reimbursement available from work beginning January, and I'd like to use it asap on a bicycle. I can max out at 1k. Since it's a reimbursement, I *must* buy new. I'm looking for something mostly for commuting 4ish miles to work and running errands (groceries, etc) to keep me out of my car when it's not raining hard.

I'm trying to stick to buying from a shop (Seattle area) rather than shipping something, and so far these are the options I'm most considering:

* REI Co-op 1.2 and 2.1 (I'm struggling to see what the difference here really is?)
* Trek FX 2 and Verve 2 (Also struggling to find the differences here)
* Giant Escape 2 Disc
* Marin Fairfax 2 (I've heard good things about this, but it doesn't seem to be available nearby?)

Honestly I'm considering just riding each and going with whats comfortable, I'm under the assumption there isnt *that* much of a difference between them as they're all in a similar price range, and I'm leaning towards shopping from REI because of their easy customer service.

Anything opinions on a favorite from above, or if there's something else I should re-consider?

Bicycle under 1k for work commute, but must be new. REI vs Trek vs others?

[music] What's up guys? Hope everybody is doing great! Let's talk about the 2021 Trek Fx3, shall we? The Fx3 is a mid high range hybrid bicycle from Trek. A hybrid bicycle is one that has the components, frame, geometry and performance closer to a road bike while offering the comfort and ease of use of a mountain bike. The Fx3 is a beautiful looking bike. Very proportionate multi-cross sectional tube, internal cable routing the works

 Other than that, I've been using it so far. It's been a great experience. Now the important question: How does it ride Chaltik Say the Fx3 is a very nimble bike. It is quick to get off its tracks and you can quickly build speed by shifting to higher gears thanks to the amazing drivetrain

 The Fx3 is a beautiful looking bike. Very proportionate multi-cross sectional tube, internal cable routing the works. It comes in two colors: red and black. I love the black variant

 They are great for the longer rides. They offer excellent palm support and since I always ride with gloves, my hands never feel sore or uncomfortable coming to the brakes. These are by far my most favorite feature of the bike. Front and rear discs with hydraulic braking, their stopping is quick, confident and effortless

Trek FX3 Disc (2021) - Long Term Review

I purchased the bike to supplement my road bike.  The FX allows me to exercise my puppy in a more relaxed state.  The ride is great and comfortable, easy shifting, great style.
