Final Thoughts – This game is excellent and I cannot recommend it enough. The theme is just so rich and the gameplay is so unique. Not only that but the game comes packaged with so many variant options that the replay value is just off the charts here. I mean 8 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT spirits to play as not to mention the varying island boards and all the options with cards

Theme Well, several off-shoots from Ticket to Ride have come. Not to mention an expansions for the original game that adds several smaller routes. So there is evidence that the theme can be slanted, but in Ticket To Ride Europe, game play is the same with some twists, like you can use someone else’s route for your destination’s sake without getting points for the route, and you route requiring tunneling through mountains are more pricey. These off-shoot stand alone games are a good way for Days of Wonder to charge full price for what could have been a less expensive expansion to the existing game

But that's really just a mistake, not a core misunderstanding. I've definitely played games with more pieces and cards to manage. This one is probably medium, and most of them are on the play board not in a player's personal management responsibility. Bottomline is that the three of us are all looking forward to playing it again, with different and harder starting conditions; now that we know the rules and the pace of play it'll go much faster and be much easier to design strategy against it

We have to clean each one individually with Windex and wipe each of them individually, then let each one sit out individually to dry. This sort of takes care of the dirt and stickiness, but the lamination should be better, especially how everything else keeps clean. We haven't needed to clean them again since the one time. It would be nice if the cards were larger, too

I don't agree with just about anything on it - Spirit Island is a ~4 to me (because I *personally* weigh difficulty-to-win highly), while Brass might be a 3.5 and A Feast for Odin a 3. To others, AFfO is a 4 due to its apparent complexity, while SI might be a 3 due to its relatively easy teach and Brass might be a 4+ due to its huge decision space.

There's something about the texture and weight of plastic pieces that makes them vastly inferior to their wooden counterparts. If Ticket to Ride came with wooden trains, I think my enjoyment of it would increase tenfold.

We had read just about every review we could on this and it was mixed- like anything polled by the public it will be smash-up of reviews and opinions, so we just went for it and bought the game. This was a kickstarter and we support that site / and cause, you give money to the smaller companies to support them, so that too was a deciding factor for us

Fun game to play. Easy game to teach the kids to play with the adults. Gets kids knowing where major cities are and how to pronounce them.

But for anyone who loves strategy, customization, and amazing game design, spirit island is an unparalleled experience.

It is not a quick game, so plan to spend at least an hour to play, depending on how many players you have (and how quickly they make decisions). If you play often, consider purchasing the expansion pack! Highly recommended.

This game is REALLY well designed and playtested. It offers a lot of strategy and fun, and yet is accessible to everyone I've taught it to. There's a lot of customization of the dificulty and play-style, choosing your character, enemies, scenarios, etc, which makes the game really replayable. My wife and I LOVE this cooperative game, and have played it several days in a row

i thought I was disproportionately bummed about it but then we babysat and our friends daughters also commented that their favorite part about the game was the cards and that the smaller size and simpler design was an outrage. So I felt validated. I would happily pay more for those magnificent cards or collectors editions with special art. I did order the extension set which had better cards but still feel that the game should have come with the original, magnificent cards
