The Specialized Eliminator T7 is a semi-aggressive rear tire that we feel is a great, affordable option for trail riders. This tire uses Specialized's T7 rubber compound that prioritizes rolling speed and longevity over all-out grip, and the medium height center tread with moderate spacing helps further reduce rolling resistance. At the same time, the sharp edges of the tread knobs bite well into firm to moderately loose, dry conditions while pedaling and braking. A closely packed row of taller shoulder lugs provides good cornering traction and a predictable feel until things get super loose. We found the T7 rubber to be long-lasting with even wear, and the Grid Trail casing stood up to our abuse during testing. It pairs nicely as a rear tire with the Specialized Butcher in the front.
While the Eliminator T7 is a well-rounded and versatile tire, it sacrifices a bit in the braking traction department in exchange for rolling speed. When conditions get really loose, it is easy to break this tire into a skid, drift through corners , spin out while climbing. We also found the Grid Trail casing to be a bit squirmy under hard cornering forces, and that we had to get the pressure exactly right to not burp it. This casing may not be supportive enough for super-aggressive riders. That said, we feel this is a great rear tire option paired with something a little more aggressive in the front, and an affordable one at that.

 I paired these with Sunlite Thorn Resistant Bicycle tubes which have extra thick rubber in them for increased protection from punctures.  Seem good for now, will have to rid them a few hundred and see how they are holding up at that point.

The surface for this is crushed limestone so it's a very loose gravel section

 and on this slide Daniel section it's easily achievable. Alright, so here behind me. I've got a nice steep hill here in the park and we're gonna test the grittiness of the tires right now. I'm gonna zoom into the terrain and you'll see that this is quite a rocky loose gravel and this incline up here reaches about a 15% or so on this gravel climb

 So good chance to taste out there the ability of these tires to handle this fire road and to see if we really put down the pressure what that traction looks like on this.  However the tubeless set up is not holding air too well for me. PSI drops gradually over a few days and I've tightened the valves. I probably will have to run tubes again, could've saved some money by getting the non TCS version.

" I hope they prove to be grippy enough to warrant a matching wheelset to my others on this bike. If so, I will be racing on them at the Cali Grinduro in October.  I'll update this review when I actually have some feedback as to handling. I secretly have high hopes that I can forgo tubulars and still get great grip without burping
