Also, Sony E 70-350 mm is another amazing lens. I tried to check online to see if I can find one within your price range but I couldn't find any. But keep an eye out, if someone is selling theirs second hand it is worth paying a bit extra to get it (if possible).

It's not a lot, but since the zoom ring is stiff turning the zoom ring would slightly rotate the entire lens a tiny bit. The focus distance window also seems to be completely inaccurate - I was photographing a deer about 30-40ft away, but the window was stating it was 100ft away. The soft bag it comes with protects the lens somewhat, but is more flexible than the stock Nikon bags, and that makes it more difficult to stuff the lens back in since it keeps collapsing and folding over itself. Lastly, the wide angle lock switch seems somewhat unnecessary, as the zoom ring already functions as a lens lock if you push it forward, while the switch only works at 150mm

I also like how small and light it is. I travel and hike/boat/ATV/run for a lot of shoots, so size and weight are always factors.

That's a big savings in weight for photographers wanting a lens that can be used in all types of weather without worry, not to mention price—the Tamron G2 is $600 less than the high-end Sigma Sports 150-600mm. The cost of front filters is less, as well, as the Tamron uses 95mm front filters while the Sigma Sports requires the larger, more expensive 105mm variety. A reversible lens hood is included.

It is a little large and pretty much impossible to just hang on my neck with the camera. I would go so far as to say that the camera does not feel quite as balanced but I imagine that is normal for such a large lens. I will continue to buy Sony lens in higher mm to hopefully catch the distance that my old camera had.

Bring a tripod for when you need to rest your poor arms. This beast is heavy but not terribly. It wasn't so bad for me since I was used to the 80-200mm which weighs in about 3.5lbs but *if* you haven't used a heavy lens before be prepared for some adjustments

If you want a telezoom that captures more light and delivers tack sharp results when its iris is wide open, you'll need to spend more money.

The lens performed ok, giving me usable shots, but still seems the detail isn't quite there. I took the lens to a local dealer with an Tamron representative and they gave me tips on trying to get the best picture possible ,but even they admit the lens might have to go back. Some how I have acquired lots of dust behind the front element. looking at the side of my lens it appears my lens it cupped which could be a factor in all this

6 OSS isn't a great performer beyond 55mm when shot wide open. If you're looking for a telezoom that gets solid results at its maximum aperture, the FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 and FE 70-200mm F4 are both better choices, but also cost upward of $1,000

Great results. I am not a professional by any means, but I wanted good quality results. The auto-focus is great, especially in daytime light. Gets a little tricky as the sun goes down though

You're kidding. The Tamron SP is better than both of these two. The Canon's only advantage is that it will have the fastest AF but only beating the Tamron by a little. The Tamron has better transmission than both, better CA control, actual 3+ axis stabilization, weather seals the Sigma can't match
